I got one in red for an upcoming Alaska trip. I needed a waterproof outer layer. I immediately fell in love with it and got 2 more, one in green and one in blue. Warm, comfortable, easy to move in with a pack. The chest pocket is perfect for my GPS. Love the collar lining. I used it with a Sync fleece on Pinelands hikes through the winter and found myself wearing it everywhere. Was only disappointed when the weather turned warmer and I didn't need to wear it. Can't wait for Alaska so I can use it again!

Great fitting jacket to wear during any outdoor
activities. I bought it to wear with the SYNC fleece. I haven't had it long, but it was just
what I needed in waterproof/windproof
protection. The hood does not roll up very well.
It is bulky around the neckline when rolled up.
Maybe a zippered pocket at the neckline would work
well...less bulky. So far, so good, I like the
jacket. I will be happy if it wears well and lasts
a few seasons.

This jacket will keeps you dry anywhere (camping or running errands). Feature full...rubber tipped zippers, lots of (rainproof) pockets, and a front two way zipper (helps when you're sitting/ squatting) which is not mentioned online.Haven't tried it, but no doubt this jacket will be warm when paired with a SYNC fleece. The only negative is that the hood can't be stowed very well.

Love this jacket...even more 'cause I caught it on sale! Roomy enough to wear a SYNC fleece for the cold weather, but not baggy by itself. Love all the extra features. Also has a two-way zipper (so as not to bind when sitting, etc.)which was not mentioned on the website. Just wish the hood secured more compactly. Rain won't get inside.

This jacket replaces a 10 year old EMS System III jacket that recently disintegrated in the washing machine (the waterproof membrane turned to dust - quite a mess and I hope the new System Three holds up better). My old jacket was wonderful and so I'm comparing the Formula to it. In size large, this jacket seems wider than most, perhaps to accommodate a SYNC liner. The sleeves and torso are not quite as long as I would like them, but I am tall.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that the zippers, especially the front one, are not the best. I have a slightly harder time than usual getting the teeth to line up properly to start zipping up. Once it's lined up though, the zipper works fine. Velcro patches or buttons to hold the outside zipper flap down would be a nice touch on this jacket.

Otherwise, this is a great jacket at the price point. I considered others such as TNF Venture, but I like this styling and the fact that it's slightly heavier. Hopefully I'll grow to like the Formula as much as I liked my old EMS rain jacket.

Got this toward the end of the winter. Have used it during blowing, wet snow to rain conditions and during heavy winds. It has held up wonderfully, both alone during rainstorms and over fleece. Blocks the wind, breathes, underarm zips provide venting and work well. No doubt will be used often in the Spring and Summer during rainstorms, and looking toward New England Autumn vacations and even early season Nor'easters. Plenty of pockets and fits great. As an avid birder I'm out in all kinds of weather and I made the right choice.
Priced right for what you great.

I may take this jacket back. Bought it at the EMS store, and needed a jacket that I could use year-round in primitive conditions in developing countries writing stories and doing research. But the jacket can't be very breathable; I feel overheated within minutes of putting it on - far more so than in my Mountain Hardwear 3-layer Goretex jacket. I keep thinking I'll get used to it, but it's uncomfortably clammy.

The jacket is lightweight, waterproof, wind resistant. the only suggestion I have is ti make the front pocket openings horizontal rather than diagonal, so gloves wont fall out when the pockets are unzipped.

This is my new everyday coat with a little adventure mixed in. After moving from NY I realized my 3-in-1 was just to heavy for MD outdoors so I purchase this shell/rain coat to keep me at a solid comfort level. I use the coat in temperatures anywhere from 65-30F. Also with the SYNC technology built I have purchased a couple inners incase I venture off my stomping grounds.
