The weather hasn't been extremely cold when I wore this jacket but I'm sure it will hold up. I couldn't believe how LIGHT and comfortable this jacket is! For the price I paid I couldn't ask for a better jacket from North Face. [...]
I've had the Aconcagua Jacket for a few weeks, and so far I love it. It is very warm, comfortable and lightweight. I think its best feature is the inside zipper pocket, which doubles as a "stow" pouch in which you can stuff the whole jacket for easy packing. Why would they leave that out of the description?
The outer nylon shell is very thin, so you'll want to be careful to avoid snags, rips and punctures while you're out camping and hiking in this jacket. While I was tending the campfire one night, I heard a "pop" and a hot spark came flying out of the flames. The spark bounced off the jacket, but it was hot enough to instantly melt a tiny hole in the nylon. So be careful!
