Very good quality winter hiking pant, that runs small in size. I am 5' 10" and 140 lbs., with a 33" waist, and the medium was too tight at the waist. Although it comes with a belt, there is no elastic to accommodate any additional room. Unfortunately I had to return them. I might have been willing to try a large size, although I have never needed to wear large in any clothing, but that size was not available.
These pants have quickly become my favorite cold-weather hiking pants. I've worn them snow-shoeing in 20 degree weather with 25mph gusts and near white-out conditions with just silkweight long underwear beneath them and the Exos Pants blocked the wind, stayed dry, and kept me warm. I have never warn them without long underwear and probably never will, (I like to prolong the life of my technical outerwear by washing it as little as possible) so I don't know how they feel against bare skin but it has a brushed inner lining that's soft to the touch. I've worn them on walks and hikes in 40-50 degree weather and the pants breath very well. I'd love it if OR would add the clasps on the front of the pant leg cuffs to hook to your shoelaces like they do on their other winter pants--would be able to skip the gaitors in mucky weather. But the zippered cuffs do a good job of sealing to the ankles. These pants are a good deal at full price and a steal on sale. Oh and they make you feel like a rockstar when you wear them... or a street biker... or a street-biking-rockstar.
These are the best pants I've ever owned. I bought them for my bike commute and they work great. Not water proof, but I've never gotten wet commuting in Seattle.
I wore them at A-Basin skiing last weekend and they rocked! Nice fit, wind-proof and they breathed way better than I did at 13,050 ft.
These pants are a big improvement over the waterproof/breathable hardshell pants I had been skiing in. These pants breath well and stay dry over the ups and downs of ski touring. Snow does seem to adhere to the textured fabric a little more than to a smooth fabric.
Needs zipper pulls on pockets
Needs slightly longer ankle zipper
I bought these a few weeks ago to wear when I snowshoe. The fabric is durable and moves with you with each step. All four pockets have zippers which is a big plus for me. The built-in waist belt is handy as I never have to worry about finding a belt to use. Overall I am very happy with the pants. Would I buy them at list price, probably not, but at the closeout price it is a good purchase.
I got these on sale and am very happy with them. Great at blocking wind and if you wore some under armour underneath you could take these up Mt Washington on a could windy day. Has a great fit with enough room for something underneath yet not baggy if you wore alone, I did notice the crotch is a little low but does not impede with activities. The pockets are a lot bigger than you would expect and have a nice soft lining.
Bought these for my son. He uses them for hiking, snowshoeing, and believe it or not, shoveling the driveway! When it is colder, he just adds polypro long johns or a pair of PowerStretch pants underneath the Exos pants. Great fit for him (Men' Large= 36"W/32"L). I also got him the matching Exos jacket. Windproof, warm, and water repellent, great for changing weather conditions.Snag proof (so far)! I would recommend this product to a friend.
The pants, in my view, are near perfect. For once though I would love it if a company would invert the fly (2 way zipper) on any pants that they recommend would fit good under a harness. Detail and the cut of the garmet are about as near perfect as it gets, a true medium...33 waist 30 inseam. [...] you'll buy two pairs.
