Great for working outdoors, but after only a few months the crotch wore out. In guess I just need to buy a few pairs, just really expensive.

I plow snow in the winter times and needed something to keep my legs warm. This is my second pair of SmartWool Bottoms. The first pair I owned lasted me about 2 years of heavy wear. The only draw back to wearing them on a regular basis is that they wear out in the crotch somewhat to soon. The rest of the bottoms were fine but the crotch wore out and got holes in it. If you are looking for a good pair of bottoms that is reasonably priced, definitely take a look at these.

I think these were very comfortable. I used these on a trip to the UP of MI (sub zero temps for majority of time during the day) - cross country skiing and hiking/backpacking. Kept me warm and no stink factor after 2 days of wear. I plan to get a least 1 more pair, when I can afford it.

I used these as my base layer on a recent snowboarding trip to Colorado and have nothing but praise. They kept me warm and did a fine job of breathing on the warmer days. They also didn't smell horrible after a days worth of activity like a lot of other polyester based technical clothing. They're made of Merino wool but can be washed like regular cotton clothing and they dry super fast too. Worth the $.

I use these for skiing on very cold days. They are a little too warm for spring skiing conditions. The best feature is the fly which is absent on most men's long underwear on the market.

I wear these WHENEVER I will be outdoors and the weather gets below 40 degrees. Even when you go indoors, you don't get nearly as overheated as you do with synthetics...Synthetics make you smell like someone's [*], Marino Wool does not! You can wear the Marino Wool for a few days and you won't stink! Just make sure to air it out in the evening...I LOVE this stuff! Worth EVERY PENNY!!!

Warm and comfortable. The midweight fabric may be a little warm for extremely active sports in cool weather but I find that I can overdress on the legs easier than on the torso without steaming up for activities like snowshoeing, BC skiing and winter hiking. Too early to tell if the merino wool will wear as well as polyester based bottoms but the ability of this fabric to "control the stink" that I get with polyester underlayers after a single wearing turns these into a very practical addition to my winter workout wardrobe. I can wear these for several days of activity in a row without putting a clothespin on my nose.

Some folks with extremely sensitive skin may find even the merino wool to be less comfortable than polyester fabrics but for the average wearer the wool used in this product feels lush and warm against the skin. I prefer wool next to skin in cold weather even when I expect high perspiration. I find the wicking nature of polyesters to be overrated. For me, polyester underlayers still wet out quickly and are colder than wool when damp. If this has been a concern for you, these bottoms might be a good introduction to merino wool since sweating is less of a problem for most people on the legs.

SmartWool has been around for a long time and always seems to put out a first rate product.
