Hi, I bought this jacket and the women's version for my wife (same jacket). It is quite lightweight and warm, overall a good jacket. I'm not sure I'd wear it for extended times outside in extreme cold, and definitely not for skiing, as it's too short. I actually got it in the clearance sale [$], so it was a super deal as well.

This is a light weight but warm down jacket. It is much cheaper compared to the north face and patagonia down jackets. The only thing negative about the jacket is that the down feathers comes out fairly easily, especially out of the seams.

Great jacket! I bought it for my husband when it was on sale, and it was a great deal. He loves it because it's super-warm but also lightweight. I originally bought a large (he usually wears a medium, but I didn't want it to be too tight). He ended up exchanging it for a small, so I guess they run a little big.

Bought for mid layer during cold downhill skiing days and it's just right for that. Generous cut (not athletic cut), high quality/lofty down. Outer shell is lightweight fabric- probably marginal for use as outer shell in tough/abrasive conditions. But combination is very lightweight, warm piece that you can pack down very small, if needed!

This jacket is very good. The down fill is evenly distributed throughout and is concentrated in the core to keep you warm. There were a few leaking feathers from the seams but not atypical for a down jacket when first used and the seams appear tight with no more leakage afterwards. The material seems thin but isnt bad and would hold up to hard usage in my opinion. The fill on the inside of the arms in the vicinity of the elbows is very, very low although in the rest of the sleeve it is fine so this might be on purpose to allow free movement of the arms at the elbows without restriction. Packs into its own pocket for a down pillow which is a very nice idea and the pillow is big enough to use. When pulled out into the jacket again it fluffs right up.
I would have liked velcro on the wrists but can live without it. I have worn it winter hiking and found it toasty in 10/20 degree temps with a tshirt. Wore it last night here in Chicago at 0 degrees with windchill about -25. With only a Poly, 1/4 zip undershirt and 100wght microfleece vest on I was just a little chilly in my arms as I walked around in a stiff breeze. With a lite fleece I would have been quite warm. I bought it to take to Argentina for a climb of Aconcagua next Feb. Will let you know how it holds up there although I'm sure I wont be disappointed. For the money this is an excellent jacket and I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a packable down jacket.

I've owned the Glacier Down for about a month now and I think its just an okay jacket overall but a decent value when 1/2 off. The jacket is reasonably warm and okay for casual wear. However, the outer material isn't very tough, feathers come out nearly every time I wear it and the elastic bands on the cuffs of the sleeves are low quality. My biggest complaint though is that this jacket and the vest (which I also own) are made for large, short people. I'm 6 feet, 165 and the medium is way too big in the width and too short in length. All in all, it is just okay and might make it through a season.

It's really warm and versatile...can be worn as outerwear and also is very compressible for layering. I bought the jacket on sale [$] which is an unbelievable deal. It's a high quality jacket at only a 1/4 of the price of the Northface Nupse jacket [$]. When you compare the Nupse and the Glacier side by side; they appear to be almost identical. I love this Jacket and often wear it with only a t-shirt in 20 degree weather....Toasty!!!!

After seeing the jacket for the first time this weekend I have to get one for myself. The way it fits under my shell and stuffs into its own pocket makes it perfect for day hikes. On at dawn, off mid afternoon and back on for those dark decents. If you go lite in winter you need this jacket in your gear.

A couple of things. About 1 1/2 to 2 years ago I bought a Glacier down coat from EMS. First, this jacket is great. Full down everywhere on jacket, velcro cuffs for adjustability, and warm. Color selection was not great because there werent many left. This year the color selection was great and I decided to get another one for my wife and I. I have to say I was a little disappointed. There are parts of the sleeve that seems that is lacking down or not as "puffy" as other parts. Also this model came with elastic wrists instead of the adjustable velcro tabs. This makes the fit around wrist with a couple of gaps in it and it will only get worse because elastic stretches. The good points, this jacket is very light and warm. This is the beauty of down. In the future I would recommend to EMS if you want to change the style this is good but keep important things like the velcro adjustable wrists the same. These are the little things that go a long way and is also the way upper end models are made. I would go as far to say that adding a zip in down hood would be good but for EMS's price tag on this item you cant complain. All in all I think it is a good jacket and I wear it almost all the cold days here just because it is so light and warm. By the way, I gave it 3 stars because of the down and wrist issues. The older one I have would have been pushing 5 stars if I could have gotten it in another color. My older EMS gacier down was what I was wearing when it was 4 below and I rolled my truck. Here I am upside down in my truck with my seatbelt on and my glacier down jacket on. I eject myself out of my seat belt crawl out my window in to 1 1/2 feet of snow in the ditch and my jacket doesnt have a mark or tear on it and keeps me warm while waiting on the wrecker and such. WOW! Keep up the good work EMS but take advantage of keeping those products just as good as the upper end models like in the past. I would recommend this jacket to others.
