Hands down one of the best fleece jackets I've ever owned. I bought one years ago, and I just got one of the updated versions in another color. I wear it more often than I wear sweatshirts in the winter. I think I've probably even fallen alseep in it. Great for layering and blocks light winds. The verdict is still out on the new sleeve cuff design--I think it looks a bit weird, but it definitely is more functional when putting on/taking off a layer on top of it.

Awesome jacket, love the Ocean Blue color. I bought it to wear under the Aurora shell my hubby bought me for Christmas. I also bought a hat, gloves and neck warmer to match.
Pros: true fit, *very* warm. I have other fleece jackets I can wear around the house on a cool evening--this isn't one of them. Way too warm for that.
I ordered a large. I'm 5'9", 170 pounds and all of a size 12 in the hips. The large fit me perfectly. The knit insets in the shoulders make the jacket very comfortable to wear for sports like skiing. I would've given the jacket 5 stars, except for the sleeve issues that others have mentioned. The sleeves are long, even for someone my height. They are also very tapered in the forearm and wrist--and I have a slim forearm for a woman my size. If you have a heavier forearm you might not like this jacket. Also, instead of one seam on the inside of the sleeve, there are 3. It's an odd sensation, as if my shirtsleeve were twisted up inside my coat.
All in all though: love the jacket, love my new set of spring gear, and looking forward to years of use on the spring slopes.

Warm and cozy, nice style, goes across seasons. Only down side - the fit is not accurate. I used the measurements on the web site and ordered a medium. When jacket arrived it was much too tight and I had to order a large. all in all worth the trouble.

This jacket is a good product, comfortable and stylish. It really blocks the wind. The only difficulty is that it is very fitted and has extra long arms. I had to return the medium to buy a women's large even though I used the web site measurements when I originally ordered. Even so the jacket is definitely worth the extra trouble. I am really enjoying it.

I was going to replace my old black fleece from EMS because it picks up all kinds of lint. I have a dog and 2 cats so there is plenty of hair. The new fleece would look good and not look so linty. The old fleece didn't seem as warm as it use to. When I received the new fleece I was happy with it until I noticed it had no pit zits. I need them because I ski all the time and don't have time to go to the lode and drop a layer. I'm really surprised that ems would sell a fleece that didn't have pit zips in it for their sync clothes. The orginal price was [$]. I wouldn't buy a fleece without pit zips so I sent it back. Aren't these clothes being used by people who play outdoors? Don't we need clothes with vents? Please include them in the fleece jackets.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:We’re sorry to hear our Divergence Fleece Jacket didn’t work for you. With regard to pit zips…some fleece jackets come with them and some do not. Pit zips are much more useful and noticeable on a hard shell…which by nature are far less breathable than fleece (with far less being an understatement). These Divergence jackets are indeed made by and for people who play in the outdoors. And on everyone’s behalf here at EMS we truly do appreciate your feedback.

I bought this as a base layer for skiing and was hoping to wear it around as a light weight jacket for running errands. For the money, I was expecting something that was actually windproof (I have an older EMS windproof fleece, and it is so much better). If you are not wearing it like a base layer, your arms will get cold where the fleece ends and the "stretchy" stuff starts. And the wind howls through the zipper. The color is pretty ugly. In general, the technical features I was expecting are just not there (it doesn't perform like I was expecting)... and it was really expensive to just bang around in... especially since it wears just like a [$] fleece from Old Navy.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:There is a difference between regular fleece, WindPro fleece, and WindBloc fleece. The first isn't at all windproof or resistant for that matter, while WindPro is a much tighter woven fleece and does a great job at being wind repellant, and lastly WindBloc is more along the lines of what you were expecting as it is completely windproof. Of course the Divergence is a WindPro fleece. While the color is up for opinion and falls into personal taste…if you are not satisfied with your purchase then note… Our first priority is your complete satisfaction with your Eastern Mountain Sports® purchase.

The fleece is nice. However I purchased it to replace last years model (which I love and wear so much I have almost worn out) and the fit was not the same. Last years was nice and fitted, but this years is larger and more box-y. I definitely like last years better because a good quality fitted fleece is hard to find.

I am very dissappointed at how quickly this jacket pilled. I usually do not purchase fleece for this reason; however, my fiance really wanted one and these were described as anti-pilliing so we each bought each other one. After only two months my jacket has pilled at an incredible rate (I have not washed it yet either!). My fiance has not worn hers but a few times so nothing has happened yet, but I am keeping my eye on it. Additionaly, the sleeves a quite baggy and long; they just don't quite seem right. If hers does the same as mine has, I am not going to purchase anything else from EMS, which is a shame since I frequently purchase mountain biking gear and climbing gear from you all.

This is an excellent jacket. Perfect in any weather conditions. Great water proofing, excellent paired with a down vest for cold winter days and great for a walk in the chilly fall and spring months. By far the best wind protection, in comparison to the older models of this jacket. The neck feels a bit constricting when fully zippered, but not a major problem. Would definately recommend this coat to anyone. Great value for your money!!

I wear this fleece on casual occassions where a heavier coat isn't necessary due to weather. It's a jacket, but I can wear it out hiking, shopping, or just casually because it's not bulky or too hot with a thin shirt underneath and still looks stylish. I actually have two, this one and one in black.

This fleece is really great - i love the material and the color, and it battles the wind quite well. I'm a northerner going to school in the south and this fleece is my only "winter coat". I had an older version of this same fleece from about 4 years ago, and my only issues with this new one are that there are no longer pockets on the inside of the fleece (like the old one had), and the sleeves are pretty long for a size medium. the torso of the fleece and overall length of the jacket are nice, but i have to cuff the sleeves, which lets some wind in. otherwise though, great item!

I'm an avid rock climber. I bought this fleece so I would have something warm and windproof that I could wear with a harness. So far it has not disappointed me for winter climbing. I have only washed it twice, but it seems to be wearing fine so far. I would prefer it had 2 additional features: pit zips, and ability to unzip from top or bottom (nice feature when wearing over a harness; I either wear it tucked into my harness or unzipped). But for the price can't complain.

This is the best piece of clothing I have ever own. I probably wear it 6 days of the week. I would wear it 7 but I have to wash it sometime. The only bad thing is that I bought white because I really liked it and now it is not so white anymore...more of a gray because I wear it so much. I want to buy another. I have owned it 2 years and it is still in great condition except for the discoloring (which is my fault anyways).

I bought this jacket because I am a x-c skiier and wanted something that would breathe and block the cold wind. Not only could I feel the wind, but the sleeves are too long and kept getting in the way of my poles. I returned this jacket for something more technical and wind-blocking.
Eastern Mountain Sports Response:We're sorry to hear the Divergence didn't work out for you. WindPro does a good job at wind resistance (far greater wind resistance than your ordinary fleece jacket) but it is certainly not windproof like some of the other options. Nice jacket; not as form-fitting as say, The North Face Denali, so it leaves room for layering underneath. Very comfortable, looks stylish. However, my jacket started pilling after the first wash, like everyone else said it would. This makes the jacket look older, and I just got it 3 weeks ago! If it weren't for this fact, I'd give the jacket 4-5 stars.

I really like this jacket. However the sizing in the large is just that. The medium is smaller in the waist and fits me everywhere else. The large is a bit roomer in the waist but too large elsewhere. The sleeves are long, so if you are in the 5'5 range beware.

nice and warm without a lot of weight. THe sleeves are a tiny bit longer than most tops, but better a bit long than too short. very soft, not sloppy but a little fitted for wearin under other jackets. too early to tell how well it wears.

I wear under my coat, vest or alone when I hike or go outside. I bought light blue and beige after I saw my husband enjoy wearing them:he owns 4 different colors!

Great price on this. Looks good, able to remove stains from it. The thing I like most is that it isn't furry like most fleeces. It's more microfiber that allows for a look that's long lasting.
Great jacket, very warm and comfortable!
