Living in the snowbelt I wear this jacket everday to work and casually on the weekends! It is really warm and waterproof which are essential features for the winter months in this part of NYS. The pockets zip closed and are fleece lined so even if you forget your gloves your hands will stay nice and warm. The hood is big and protects your whole head which is a key feature for me since I prefer not to wear hats.

North Face is always a good product. The jacket looked great. We learned of it by seeing it on other people, and my wife wanted a long coat. Granted, she is a petite 5'2", so fit is always tough for her. She liked the coat over all, but the fit was not right for her. She usually wears small, and had to order an extra small. She thought the extra small was still a little too long her.

I wear this jacket almost everyday. It runs a little big but thats perfect for me because I like to layer up. I can comfortably fit a sweater and a hoodie underneath which makes for a really warm winter.

Perfect in cold weather and more than adequate in very cold weather, with a sweater underneath. It is quite streamlined for a down coat and it looks great on me. I had hummed and hawed about spending the money on this coat but have no regrets. It will be in my back for many a winter to come. Very well made; good quality.

This is a great jacket. It keeps me warm even when the temperature gets down to zero, without having to put on a bunch of layers underneath. It is a little pricey, but I think it is worth it. I really like the length of it since it helps keep your legs warm. I have noticed that some of the feathers poke through occassionally but it isn't such a big deal.

I have never bought a parka this comfortable. It provides alot of warmth but not too bulky. I haven't had it for long so not sure yet of durability but if it can hold up for 3-4 years, a worthwhile investment! Would recommend it to anyone looking for superior comfort and warmth.

We have had below zero windchills and this coat has kept me warm while doing my 3 mile walk. I have had several compliments on its great look!

I got such nice compliments from the first time I wore it. Feels like a sleeping bag cocoon without all the bulk. Snug fit, so you have to wear light base and mid layers and you are good to go. Color is great, too. Most people have the black and they are jealous when they see mine in green. And it was the best deal around for it!

This is one great coat. I am ALWAYS cold but not with this coat. I can wear a light shirt and still be warm in the coldest of conditions!

Just moved from the northeast to the frigid, windy midwest and needed a much warmer coat.
Like all Northface products, it is nicely designed (nice cut), great sleeve length for someone like me (long arms). All of their products tend to run big, so buy one size smaller than you usually would.
One complaint - I wish this were warmer. They should have used a better outer fabric to protect from the wind and probably could have added a bit more down as well. It does well until about 15 degrees (as long as there isn't much wind), then you need to be wearing lots of extras to stay warm.
This would definitely be the perfect coat with better wind protection - it's tailored well (waist in the right location, arm length is good, pockets where they should be) and looks really good.
Bottom line: This coat is fine for not too cold conditions and for wearing around town.

I have told so many people to buy this jacket. It is so light and not bulky at all! Some of the down feathers stick out so with a black jacket you can really see them. Also, the hood "strings" are hard to use. It is hard to get the hood tight. I love the pockets and the material in the pockets is so soft! The zipper can be hard to start because it is a double zipper. That can be frustrating when you are in a hurry. This is def a cold weather jacket. You will get really hot in it if the weather is not really cold. Overall, a great jacket and I am happy with it.

This coat looks great on and is very stylish. I tried similar coats of this length and all of them made me look like the michelin man. It is warm enough for the severe cold of High Country, Colorado

I have already talked two friends into buying this coat. The weather turned frigid right after I got it and I was so glad I had it. It is very warm. The length is perfect, and I love the fact that it zips up from the bottom (great for the car). The sleeves are nice and long (but not too long). I must know 10 people with this coat and everyone is very happy. It does run a little small ... most people I know have gotten it one size larger than they normally would.

THE METROPOLIS PARKA IS SOFT, WARM, STYLISH AND BEAUTIFUL. IT HAS BEEN PERFECT FOR THIS EXTREMELY COLD WINTER THAT WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING IN THE UPPER MIDWEST THIS YEAR. IT IS LIGHT SO I DONT HAVE TO WEAR SO MANY LAYERS. ON EXTREMELY COLD DAYS A LIGHT PAIR OF LONG UNDERWEAR AND CASHMERE SWEATER IS PERFECT UNDERNEATH. I LOVED IT SO MUCH THAT ORDERED A NUPTSE JACKET AS WELL.

My Wife loves this jacket. It fits her perfectly and she wears it all the time. It also beads up water very nicely which I didn't expect apon purchase.
The only downside is the material doesn't look to durable. We have a puppy and my Wife is afraid the puppy might snag the material when she jumps up.

I really like this jacket. I wanted it last year but it was sold out in my size so I scooped it up this year. Love that the hood is removable. Looks great both ways.

This is a wonderful coat. Beware - this isn't a coat to wear when it's just "nippy", I made that mistake and ended up in a sweat! Definitely a great coat for cold weather, and extremely lightweight.

I wonderful jacket. It keeps me warm when I'm out walking my dog and cat (yes, cat...the cat comes along with us!) and when I'm out and about it's very stylish. This coat is not bulky and when I wear it I don't feel like the "Michelin Man." Other down coats are very bulky and make me look heavier than I already am.

The jacket is warm, but take a closer look:
Many areas of the jacket are not filled evenly with the down feathers. The top squares of the jacket are nice and puffy, but towards the bottom of the jacket the squares have little or no down filling. [...]it's not worth the money spent.
