I used this product throughout the winter as a base layer in extreme cold. It was very breathable and kept me warm, but didn't restrict any motions. I'm still wearing it in this unpredictable Spring weather.

I wore this every day during my ski bum year in Jackson, Wyoming (read: cold). A tank top, long sleeve long underwear top, this Power Stretch and then a windproof soft shell was my ideal combination. It's also stylish (note: "style" adjusted to mountain bum terms) enough to wear for apres'ing (hides oder well too). Ok Ok I also wear it when I haven't been skiing too. One of my friends told me that I was wearing it too much. I ignored her and bought another one instead.
I have a hard time describing it and so I usually end up calling it by its name, the Power Stretch. It's stretchier than a fleece but warmer than a long underwear top. It's dense but lightweight. Stretchy but retains its shape well. Stylish (see above) but practical. Ahhhh the Power Stretch.
I usually wear a small or medium shirt and wear a medium in this piece. Partly because I want a little extra room for layering and also because I find the small to be a LITTLE too tight in the mid-section. The medium leaves the sleeves just a tad too long for me (I'm 5"3') but again, I prefer that for outdoor adventures.
One downside is that this version doesn't have the thumb holes that my previous one did- what's with that EMS? I miss them- they're brilliant additions to any layer.
Regardless- buy it. Do it.

I really debated buying this shirt, because of the price. But in the end, when you use something all the time the price doesn't matter. And I use this top all the time. It is the perfect solution for winter runs. It's warm. It blocks wind. I am spending a year in New Jersey (normally live in warm climate) and I can't even believe how comfortable I am running on the cold days. Also, I like it better than a shell because it moves with me and doesn't swoosh.
A must for everyone on the crew team!

Love the fit of this top. It has good lines without being too tight. I wear it all the time because it is warm and comfortable. I also use it for skiing and hiking. My only complaint is that it pills quickly, although with the black you can't really tell.
I would buy this product again.

GREAT FOR HIKING, BUT LOW QUALITY
By Tennesse Hiker
from Lancaster, Pennsylvania on 3/20/2007
Cons:
Expensive, Low Quality, Sleeves started to pill
Best Uses:
Hiking mid-layer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I love this midlayer. It was a bit on the expensive side so I waited to buy it until it was on sale. I wore it hiking on a very short hike once, and it started to pill at the sleeves immediately. I love the shirt and its very soft and warm, but for how expensive the product is [...] I wouldn't expect it to pill immediately. That is usually what happens to low quality products, not products that cost [...]. If you are going to buy it, buy it on clearence so the price is reasonable for the quality.

Love this top. I use it for physical activities such as winter hiking, cross country skiing, shoveling snow, but also wear it just as much to the ice rinks for a layer of warmth. The China Clay is a very appealing color and I have received compliments. Nice fit, great sleeve length for my long arms. Love the thumb holes.
