Great idea poorly executed

By Bumble

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I got this about a year ago and absolutely loved it. It would track my mileage, calories, etc just like the watch, but having it speak to me as i was running was awesome! Especially as the displays on the watches are small and hard to read without my glasses. Then one day it just didn't perform consistently. I'd be running like a mad woman and the monitor would state my heart rate was at 56. Then it would have it at 186. Then zero. I changed the batteries often, kept my heart rate sensor clean, and still couldn't resolve the issue. Such a bummer for such a great concept. I also bought the Polar Beat upgrade and when i upgraded my phone, the upgrade didn't follow. Was definitely not happy with that as not sure why i would need to repurchase. Would love to see this product evolve!

Best heart rate monitor

By Reggie731

from Glen Ellyn, IL, United States

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I am not sure why some of these reviews are so negative. I have had the H7 for about a year now and have not had any problems with it. I love keeping all of my stats on my phone to help me make goals for myself and I can visually see when I am making progress. My heart rate has been consistently read (unlike a previous review). I have had no problems with my connection to my iPhone 5. I also really like having the GPS on the monitor/app. Other GPS monitors tend to be fairly expensive. I also like that iit syncs with most fitness equipment. It automatically syncs to the spin bikes in spin class so I can monitor how I am doing. There are a few downsides. One, you have to have your phone close to you when you are using your monitor. This means you have to carry your phone around with you in the gym, which I hate. Two, it does not sync to myfitnesspal. I am sure this is something they are working on though since there are many complaints about this. Three, when I bought this in the store, I did not have size options for the band. I have a fairly small ribcage so the standard band does not fit snug. I have to tuck my monitor under my sports bra and sometimes the does not keep it up. I am not lowering my rating for this because I have this problem with all heartrate monitors.

Don't bother - won't stay connected

By MomChemist

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I have had a "regular" Polar Heart Rate Monitor for years and been very happy with it. I was excited to be able to integrate all my fitness devices with my phone so I got the H7. After several attempts, I got it to pair with the phone, but it has been flaky since I got it. I'll start a workout and the phone/sensor will be connected. But it drops off during the workout. It is NOT due to improper connections or bad conductivity from the strap, because I still get a full signal on my old Polar watch. I'm a tad irked to have spent all the money to get a new HRM that really only reliably does what my old one did. (OH. And for anyone who can't get the Bluetooth signal to work at all... try the "short the leads with a paperclip" trick that has been recommended by reviewers on Google. Lousy way to have to reset an expensive product.

Two stopped working

By amyd

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

This worked great for about 2 months and then stopped working. I changed the battery and bought a new strap but that didn't fix the problem. I bought another one and the same thing happened.

Works like a charm!

By StonewallUSMC

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I have had my H7 for 2.5 month's now and I use it 3-5x a week and it has not missed a beat (pun intended) ~ so well in fact that I have purchased the Polar Stride Sensor and I have no issues with both connecting with my iPhone 5S and staying connected. I recently returned my Garmin Forerunner 220 because the material for the strap for the HR Sensor was folding over on itself and pinching me on runs. Thank you for attention to detail Polar!

Great device

By DotG

from Macclesfield, United Kingdom

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I got this as a Christmas present, and had no trouble connecting it to my iPhone 4s. I don't use the web site, just monitor my heart rate when I exercise. It has always worked well, and has encouraged me to do more exercise (walks). I am very pleased with it.

Works Great!

By RollyP

from Canada

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I purchased the H7 about 6 months ago and it's worked like a charm every time. I only had one time where I had to take out the battery to reset the unit. My iPhone apps (Runtastic, Endomondo and Runkeeper) had no problems connecting to the HRM and giving an accurate BPM to the apps. The H7 HRM strap does not track mileage or calories (as another reviewer claims) but strictly monitors your heart rate and communicates this information to another Bluetooth device (such as your smartphone or watch) and that device passes the information to the app. In my case, my H7 connects to my iPhone and relays the HRM data to my Runtastic app. I've also connected my Runtastic app with MyFitnessPal app, so that training info is also passed on seamlessly and automatically. I've enclosed screenshots from iPhone apps that I always use: - PolarBeat for actual configuring and pairing of the H7 strap - Runtastic for displaying my heart rate during my workouts - MyFitnessPal for tracking my exercise that is passed on automatically by Runtastic

Does not pair with iPone5S OS 7.1.1

By Magne

from Drammen, Norge

Comments about POLAR H7 Heart Rate Sensor:

I purchased the H7 today. I checked compatibility via the QR code on the package. My iPhone 5S with OS 7.1.1 should be avle to pair. Hovever it does not. So my rating is not 1 star. It is ZERO. When i surf the web I fins lots of people with the same problem. I will return in to the shop monday morning. Useless. Sad because my other Polar products work. Mail me if you fix this by monday. If not I switch from Polar to Suunto. And Polar beat I drop permanently.
