Comments about UCO LIGHT MY FIRE FireSteel 2.0 Fire Starter:
This Light My Fire firesteel works great! I have multiple firesteels that I usually take with me when I head out on my weekend trips. I also have a Blastmatch, by Ultimate Survival Technologies, and I prefere this firesteel. It's extremely easy to use, lite weight, small, and it puts out A LOT of spark. I used this and some birch bark to start a fire in a very windy snow storm. It was as if I had a stormproof lighter. A++++

Comments about UCO LIGHT MY FIRE FireSteel 2.0 Fire Starter:
This is an excellent fire starter in the hands of anyone who has practiced using it. The key is to understand it's function prior to needing it and being prepared when you do need it. The best setup I have found so far is to store the firestarter in my pack with a small amount of cotton balls mixed with petroleum jelly. This is a nearly fool proof way to get a fire going, since it will ignite the cotton in one or two strikes, which burns for a very long time. Given the choice, I would carry the firesteel and cotton balls/petrol jelly over matches or lighters any day, especially since this is now my primary means of starting a fire. I have also used this method to teach my 11 year old daughter to start a fire while in the woods with a foot of snow on the ground.

Comments about UCO LIGHT MY FIRE FireSteel 2.0 Fire Starter:
Like a few others mentioned, this tool, in addition to petroleum jelly cotton balls, has become my primary source of fire starter. The two make a nearly fool proof combination, and are a great tool for teaching younger hikers how to stay warm in the backwoods if the need arises.
Waterproof, durable, easier than matches, and more reliable than a lighter.

Its great. Looked at a lot of reviews and bought it any way. Took it outside right away to try it out. Wasnt difficult to use, emitted a lot of sparks. Finally used cottonballs with patrolium jelly and lit on the second strike. It works really well.

Comments about UCO LIGHT MY FIRE FireSteel 2.0 Fire Starter:
It works... in the sense that if you use the tool as directed, or with a knife as I had to do... it will spark. But that spark is awfully useless as far as I can tell. Unless your tinder is 100% dry and can't be knocked aside by the awkward action of striking the spark then you had better have a backup plan. I suppose in an emergency I would have kept at it all night and perhaps have gotten it to work. For this reason I think I'll keep it in my emergency kit as a last resort.

Comments about UCO LIGHT MY FIRE FireSteel 2.0 Fire Starter:
I got this for the built in emergency whistle, and was not that impressed. Its really hard to get just the right angle to produce a decent sound. Maybe mine was defective ? But none the less a good fire starter.
