Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I have been looking for a hooded soft shell for a couple years now and the EMS fader Jacket finally fulfilled my need!! I am 5'10" 155-160 lbs and chest size 39" and the medium fits great. I tried both a small and medium to be sure I found the best fit and found the medium to be the right one. It's perfect in the 40 degree range, very warm, the fleece lining is very comfortable and keeps you warm but still breaths well. If you have the chance definitely check this jacket out, you won't be sorry!!
Pros
- Fitted style
- Fitted Style Think Ua
- Repels Water Fairly Well
- Style Fitted Think Ua
Cons
- Tight Cuffs At The Wrist
Best Uses

- Springfall jacket
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
Great Jacket. The soft shell surprisingly causes water to bead fairly easily. The cuffs near the wrist can be tight, but that is an intentional design to allow a glove to fit over. I have been wearing this jacket for the last 2 months through the winter and now into the New England "spring". The jacket performs great for those days where it is kinda raining/kinda snowing.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
Excellent materials and manufacturing quality. Design would be great too, unfortunatelly the sleeves continuously fall down to the knuckles' level due to the lack of elastic cuffs or velcro straps, and alow the underlayers to ride up -very irritating from a garment of this quality and price.
Impedes on function.

Pros
- Fluffy inside
Cons
- Arm Cuffs
- Arm Cuffs Don't Sinch
Best Uses
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I am really impressed with the quality of this jacket. It's thick and has good material, especially for the price.
The only thing I would change is the arm cuffs could really use some velcro to adjust/tighten them up. The arms of the jacket are a little longer than I expected but that's a plus for me. The softshell isn't waterproof but rain does bead up nicely on it and doesn't soak through, so it's good for light rain but obviously not made to be waterproof.
It's designed for cold-weather action and it works great for snowshoeing and other movement activities. I can still reach the pockets even with a backpack waist band. The fleece lined hood is really cozy.
Pros
- Comfortable
- Nice athletic fit
- Warm
Cons
- Small pockets
Best Uses
- Fall days
- Outdoor activities
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I got the blue and orange one. I get tons of compliments. It looks cool and fits great. It is more of a pen athletic fit, so is you like a loose fit go 1 size bigger. I love he sleeve cuffs, they are nice and snug around wrist and when I wear cloves, gives nice closed seal. The soft "furry" inside feels great.
Pros
- Warm

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I really like this jacket. It has a nice design, nice zippers and a fleece lining. The hood is nice although you can't put it on fully zipped up. However, this is part of what makes the hood nice when you wear it. It's well fitted and you can make it even more fitted if you want.
Pros
- amazing material
- very warm
Cons
- Horrible Fit
- Needs Tailoring
Best Uses
- Cold
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I'm 5ft 7in 160lbs.
The medium fit my torso great, but the sleeves were about 6inches too long, and the pockets way too high up (near my nipples).
My tailor said he could not alter the sleeves because it would be too much work to taper them after shortening them--if he didn't taper the wind would come in.
I completed a return.
Pros
- Light
- Mobile
- Smartly Designed
- Warm
Cons
Best Uses
- Climbing
- Hiking
- traveling
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
It's expensive yes, but worth the investment in the long run. It is very warm and useful in all seasons, while being very lightweight.
Pros
- Lightweight
Cons
- Sleeve Cuffs
Best Uses
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
The inside fleece loft is really soft, but it's not super thick so this jacket is best for active use. I wish the sleeve cuffs were adjustable and that the hood had a cinch in the back - instead it only tightens at the front. I have the navy blue jacket, but the color is much darker (closer to black then blue) than the photo online shows
Pros
- Large Inside Pockets
- Shaped Hood
- Textured Zipper Pulls
- Wind resistance
Cons
- Cuffs not adjustable
- Cuffs Were Tight
- Hood Only Cinched
- No Arm Pit Vents
- No Rain Bill On Hood
- Odd Shaped Arm Pocket
- Rain Soak
- Waist Cinching Slips Up
- Zipper Snags Same Spot
Best Uses
- Appear Rugged When Not
- Fashion
- Say Price To Look Cool
- Wear On Beer Runs
- Wear Once While Hiking
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Fader Jacket:
I thought it was the best until I started to wear it for what I bought it for. On my hour walk to work I would slowly get wet by the rain soaking through after EXPLICITLY asking the sales person if it would hold up and being assured it would. Strike one. Walking to work at 5 am only to find myself overheating as jacket could not "breathe" as it had been represented. Short of taking it off when hot then putting it on when cold could not keep steady comfort even though the terrain, the climate and my cade remained unchanged. Strike two. While fish a pond with temps in low 40's I put on my base layers. Pants and second top layer then ascent jacket. I stay moving while fishing comparable to slow walking pace but within 2 hours I felt the cold soak had set in and I could not recover. I'm 6'1" 165lbs of skin and bone. I have to depend on my gear to keep me warm as I lack insulation in the form of body fat. And this jacket did not perform as I was told it would under very specific conditions. Strike three.
