tote it in my bag going to work for quick rain dashes from the car-also great for beach walks when it gets suddenly windy...lightweight but very protective!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Stasher Jacket:

                    - breathability: One reviewer on this webpage wrote: 'isn't breathable'. But this webpage states 'technical specs ... Breathability ... Moderate'.

                    - color: A customer service person stated on the phone that Jet Black appears darker than Black. But that's not right. The difference between Jet Black and Black is that Jet Black appears the tiniest bit bluer than plain black, under e.g. bright white fluorescent light. So if you're trying to match some black pants, the Jet Black might clash a tiny bit.

                    - hood: has what might be called vertical volume control, along the sides of the face, but not does not have what might be called horizontal volume control (as the Windblast jacket has) around the sides and back of the head (and across the slight fabric visor that extends out from the forehead). That excess horizontal volume can be a negative when looking to one's side, and/or turning one's head, when jogging, doing tennis, etc. (But one can improvise horizontal volume control by adding any kind of removable clip to the fabric on the back of one's head.)

                    - weight: The fabric weight, and compressed size, are about 2-3 times that of the ultralight Windblast jacket.

                      • Summer Summit Wind Shell

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Stasher Jacket:

I was looking for a lightweight summit shell that wouldn't take up much room in a day pack. I liked that this jacket comes in its own little stuff sack a little smaller than a grapefruit. I also didn't want to spend a lot on a jacket I thought would only be worn a few times a year. I kept coming back to the Stasher Jacket, and bought it on sale (under $30 was hard to resist). I have to say that I am really happy with this jacket, and have worn it to outdoor sporting events, morning walks, and even to work on a few drizzly mornings. It isn't breathable, so moisture buildup will be an issue inside the jacket, so not the optimal piece for aerobic activities, but it does what I bought it for and more. The fit is ample without being baggy; this fits nicely over a fleece sweater without restricting movement. So, a great bargan in a packable wind breaker that hasn't been back in the stuff sack since I took it out. PS: Threw it in the dryer (on medium) for a few minutes, and all the wrinkles from being in the stuff sack disappeared.
