Very versatile, always in my pack no matter the activity. Very warm for weight. Built in balaclava hood seals out elements. Thumb holes are great for added warmth, sliding on layers, and also for protecting the top of your hands from the sun. I use as outer and mid layer for high country backpacking. Moves moisture so well, never get sweaty, and sheds light mist or a quick drizzle. Works as outer in high output activities or a mid layer for really cold weather. Really an amazing piece of gear. Only gripe is the wavy zipper. This may have be fixed as mine is 4 years old ( and still in great shape - no piling or snags).
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have all kinds of jackets for all kinds of situations, but there's really nothing as stylish, warm and comfortably form-fitting as this jacket. Everyone should have one of these and while I can wear it just about all the time in cooler temps, this is my go-to jacket for running in cool/cold weather.

Kayaked 75 miles of the Allagash River in northern Maine, in late September.. Temps dipped into the twenties at night.. This sweatshirt is about as great as it gets. The nicest piece of clothing that I've ever worn - in regards to versatility, durability, feel, warmth, and while we're at it, style... I'm getting another, 'cause I hate when I like something and go back to get another, it was disco'd..
You'll be VERY happy with this purchase...

I purchased this for use while hiking. It's comfortable for use walking, on the flats or down-hill... but once you begin any aerobic exercise, the material fails miserably. It retains and builds up moisture and feels clammy on the skin. The only reason I gave it two stars is 1) because it is comfy if you don't plan on using it during aerobic exercise (although a bit pricey) and 2) because EMS has a good return policy.... I did return it.

The EMS Men's Power Stretch Full-Zip Hoodie is the best piece of clothing for hiking I have ever used. I went to the EMS store and one of the salesman recommended this for cold weather hiking. It is very warm, lightweight, and the stretch material makes it very comfortable for outside aerobic activity in the cold such as hiking. When there is a real cold chill in the air I zip up the hood and it becomes a balaclava protecting the neck and head. When hiking in weather 30-40 degrees I wear the EMS men's techwick midweight crew under the EMS Men's Power Stretch Full-Zip Hoodie and it keeps my upper body very warm. I have recommended this to family and friends who hike so I strongly recommend this to you too.

Love this sweatshirt. Works great on chilly walks or evenings. Extremely comfortable and great feel. Only complaint would be the lack of hand pockets. My wife has a women's and she has pockets, why the men's doesn't I don't know.

- extremely light, surprisingly warm.
For me I have tested while snowboarding. My complaint about it is that the waist is very loose. I would like to see something to tighten so that wind don't get in. The fleece does run pretty long in the torso though, so you can definately tuck it in securely.
