Comments about MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Water Bottle, 1 L:
I bought this bottle specifically because it mates perfectly to the MSR Water Works and Mini-Works water filters. Just screw the bottle onto the filter, and pump away.
As noted by other reviewers, I found that I was using the bottle less and less because of the leaks. I too thought that it was the lid - IT'S NOT THE LID THAT LEAKS. It's the seal where the plastic thread ring is mated to the bottle.
I fixed it by taking a little clear silicone sealant on the tip of a finger and wiping it around the inside of the bottle where the mating seam can be felt. Let the silicone cure with the cap off, and Voila' bottle fixed.
I bought two of these, and did the same mod to each one. Now these are my favorite outback bottles.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Yes, I would recommend these bottles to a friend - with the quick seal modification above.
5 stars without the leaks that I had to fix myself, 3 stars because MSR didn't get it right the first time.

Comments about MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Water Bottle, 1 L:
I purchased 2 of these bottles from MSR and I'm not going to lie, I am disappointed with them. the capacity is great and they are quite durable, but the leak all the time!!!! I can't take a sip without water leaking all over my shirt. If they fixed this issue the bottle would be perfect!

Comments about MSR Alpine Stainless Steel Water Bottle, 1 L:
The size is useful and good.
The lid and all that goes with it are poor in design, quality and function. It just doesn't work. The ''O'' - ring leaks, the spout is ill-fitting and it leaks.
It is high priced , dysfunctional and frustrating to own and try to make work.
My prior EMS stainless water bottles with the wide mouths were excellent however. I only bought this one because the old , excellent ones are no longer carried. EMS should bring the old ones back and replace these poor quality ones.
