early fall in new england now - works well as an outer layer. expect it to be warm as toast when it gets cold and is worn as an under layer.
though this is a men's vest, the zipper is on the left. there is also a little bit of a waist built in....

I like to layer while cross-country skiing, so was very intrigued by this form-fitting vest. The previous reviewer commented re the left hand zipper and the tapered waist, so I correctly guessed that it would be excellent for a female athletic build. I'm 5'9", 145 lb, and the Men's Small fits perfectly - fitted, but not too tight. Very high quality vest that works as a core layer in cold weather, or a top layer as the weather gets warmer.
