We've been using the Thule 554XT Hang-Two carrier for a number of years, but always worried about someone stealing our boards if we were out grabbing lunch or something. The Double-Decker carrier will definitely stop a casual thief from walking away w/ your boards - the straps are reinforced with metal to prevent someone from simply cutting them off. However, I don't believe the rubber straps that actually attach the carrier to the load bars are reinforced the same way. As a result, it is theoretically possible for someone to cut the carrier itself from the bars, and walk away with the boards with carrier still attached (and then just hack-saw it off later on). That's probably a lot of work, so it'd be a hassle to actually steal boards in that manner, but it's technically possible. A workaround to this problem is to use a bike lock to lock the carrier to the bars... I will likely do that if the boards will be unattended for a very long amount of time.
Overall though, this carrier is definitely a nice design and brings great peace of mind when we park our car somewhere with the boards on top. I'd recommend it to others as long as they were aware of the slight issues mentioned above.

This is a great roof SUP carrier. It is easy 10 minutes to install no tools required. I am 5'1", my SUP is 11" long 30 lbs fits on this no problem, slides right on easy to latch. Because of this carrier i can enjoy my SUP.
