Comments about OBOZ Men's Sawtooth Low Hiking Shoes:

I can't say enough good things about these shoes. They are trail ready right out of the box requiring no break in time, but are still rigid enough to provide an appropriate level of support. I did a NOBO thru hike of the Appalachian Trail with two pairs of these and they hold up really well under abusive conditions, sharp rocks, and mud. They dry fast and have enough (but not too much) ventilation. The ONLY downside is that the front part of the tow rand on these tend to de-laminate pretty quickly. A great more durable option to the ever-popular (and really comfy) Merrell Moab Ventilator

Comments about OBOZ Men's Sawtooth Low Hiking Shoes:

2013 AT thru hike. Bought first pair in Harpers Ferry; that pair lasted thru Vermont with some tearing up by the end of their life. Second pair lasted from Hanover, NH to Katahdin with the same amount of tearing up as the first pair in that short distance. Goes to show the wear n tear issue; shredding in same location on both boot, but that's with intense usage. I had switched from large, waterproof Solomon boots and was always a mid to high hiking boot guy..but these shoes are great. Lightweight, comfortable, dry quick, durable. I did have sole inserts tho so I don't know how that part of the shoe is.

I tried on an 11, my normal shoe size, and it was a little snug, so I ordered a half size up. The 11-1/2 fits great and is very comfortable.

I was tired of the Moab. The chameleon was not available and the sales clerk offered these as an alternative. Took them to Glacier National Park. They held up to trails very will. I did not do any backpacking so I cannot comment on that aspect. Traction, weight, construction are outstanding. I am a convert from Merrell.

I have done several practice hikes with 35 lbs. for 4 miles. The real test will be in a few weeks on a week long backpack in Cascades National Park. I really like the breath ability in the non gortex so far

Bought these for an upcoming section hike of the AT. Was looking for light weight, non-waterproof, good traction shoes. OBOZ Sawtooth Low Hiking Shoes by Oboz seem to fit the bill. I've been wearing for 3 weeks to break in, but it wasn't necessary.

Comments about OBOZ Men's Sawtooth Low Hiking Shoes:

In my opinion this is a light use shoe for less technical/less rugged trails. I took them on a 4 mile rocky hike yesterday up West Mtn in NY. The sole design does not perform well on sharp rocks. The sole is lugged with lots of cut out space...I don't get how a real hiking shoe could have a sole like this. It's also very rounded on the edges. Salesman told me these are good rugged hikers and are adequate for carrying a kid on my shoulders, which often happens dayhiking with the kids. I don't agree. This is a nice casual non-technical hiker, but I found the platform/sole to be unstable. I think I'm going back to Lowas.
