Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
being an avid hiker with aging knees, these shoes allow me to continue the high mile hikes and elevation gains because of their superior shock absorbing. good support and water resistance make this a very good shoe for the trails, yet they look good enough to wear to work in casual dress environs. i paid full price for them, yet dont have a regret, .... and am planning a second pair at the discount price.
these shoes make my knees feel 15 years younger !

Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
I am now on my second pair of these great shoes. The first pair was "starting" to wear a bit (slight delamination of the rubber trim at the toes and some scuffing-nothing serious), so I replaced them since I wear them to work. I still have and use the original pair for tough jobs around the house. Last weekend, I was digging in wet, muddy conditions and as long as I didn't completely submerge my foot, I stayed dry. I originally bought these when I was looking to replace a pair of Keens that had worn out. [...] The first pair is still going strong almost a year and a half after I bought them and I wear them a lot. For the original pair, I used a pair of Superfeet insoles to replace the flimsy ones that came with the shoes. I went to do that again with the new pair, but found that the insoles provided are rather substantial and very much like the Superfeet in construction, so I just left them in. A note on sizing - I normally wear a size 12 wide and bought these in a 13 and they fit fine.

I wear these shoes to work so cannot speak to their hiking worthiness and have only owned them for a short period so cannot speak to their durability. What i can speak to is that as of now they are a pleasant surpise. Very comfortable in fit and cushioning. I actually enjoy walking in them!

Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
I ordered these shoes and was pleased to find that they fit true to size. Right out of the box they were very comfortable. I found the shoes to have great arch support. I normally wear an aftermarket midsole in my shoes, but I have not felt the need to put any in this shoe. A couple of weeks after getting these shoes, I went on a camping trip in New York. It rained the whole time and I was walking around in fields of mud reminiscent of Woodstock. My feet stayed completely dry! The only down side to these shoes is the traction. On dry ground, the traction is great. It's even ok in mud. But on wet rock, you need to be careful! To be fair, I've found very shoes that can adequately grip wet rock.
I would recommend this shoe to anyone, and I'll probably order another pair when these wear out!

Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
I love these shoes. This is my third pair of OBOZ and they have all been great. My friends who only buy Northface keep asking me about my shoes. Northface has got nothing on these shoes. They are comfortable right out of the box. The waterproofing is excellent and I can't say enough about these shoes.

Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
This is my second pair of these, and will be my last! My first pair was awesome=one of the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. That is why I purchased a second pair. This new pair has a flaw, or something wrong with the footbed/insert. There are voids. or dips in the right foot bed that I can feel with my toe and I find it very uncomfortable. I have tried several pairs of insoles and still feel it. Also, the heel area where the junction of the top inner liner and the bottom B-Dri layer is very uncomfortable. It forms a lip, or ridge, that rubs the back of my heal. This area is where my original pair failed and started separating.
I have tried to get these broken in, but I am still not comfortable in them. I don't know if they are defective, or if the manufacturing has changed. I would return them, but I have worn them out side of the house, and do not have the original box and packaging anymore. I do not know if they would except a return or exchange of them. I am very disappointed with this pair.

Comments about Oboz 1022306 OBOZ Men's Firebrand II Hiking Shoes:
Love these shoes, I was a bit leery about reviews concerning the traction & I did find that they don't grip really well on slick surfaces. Not a big deal for me as I usually try to watch my step on these areas. I've had soles with better traction & I've had worse. Maybe someday OBOZ will add this feature to their shoes. I like to take brisk walks (so far on an indoor track & road walks), at least 3 times a week usually 3-10 miles a shot without stopping. So far these shoes fit the bill. I've developed a couple of small blisters over one of my toe knuckles and on the back of my heel but I usually get these when I break in a new pair of shoes I have no doubt that my feet & the shoes will adjust to each other ;^). During the warmer months I will be hitting the trails (Finger Lakes Trail Conference-New York) and the Adirondack MTs. I look forward to using these for most of the trails.
