Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

I took a large red drinking straw and slit it length wise. The straw wraps around the LUNA perfectly. This allows me to use the LUNA during my astronomy activities. I have used shorter pieces of a straw to act as a dimmer. I use it with the G10+ and the USB port on my laptop.

Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

I have a mobile wood-fired pizza company, and we use a canopy at all of our events. During setup, we daisy chain 8 lights in our canopy. When it gets dark, we plug them into the Escape 150. We are often the only ones with sufficient light, and we have gotten many gigs (and/or premium positioning) because we require no power connections.

I plug my 2 Rockout speakers into my iPhone for music, and have my Bolt Focus light for finding stuff in my trailer.

Thanks, Goal Zero, for making my life better, easier, and more "green!"

Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

I primarily use the Light-a-life lights (a pair) when on camping trips with my family in Zimbabwe. The campsites are well appointed drive-up affairs, so we don't skimp on gear. The "bomas" (thatched shelters) are perfect for hanging up the light-a-life lanterns. The carabiners attached to each electrical line are excellent modes of attachment. The lights having a "chain" feature is an excellent way to get more reach for the light strand.

I power the light-a-life units from the Escape 150, primarily, though have used the Sherpa battery units as well. The LEDs are bright enough to light the entire structure and are great for dinner prep. Only when we've completely finished do we unplug the lights to get a view of the Milky Way.

The only improvement I'd make to the units in the long term would be to shade 50% of the lantern plastic, so as to direct light (and shield it) to an area, and to put the on/off switch further down the line, instead of directly on the lantern housing. This makes for easier light control if the lanterns are already hung up. Some battery sources (the Escape 150) don't distinguish the on/off switch and need to be unplugged to prevent the lights from simply turning on.

The light-a-life lanterns are a perfect addition to our camping gear.

I agree with G. Who wants to plug and unplug the devive everytime you use it? I would have payed an extra dollar for a simple on/off switch. I do not recommend this product until it is re-designed.

Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

The light is really cute-- should have been perfect for an extra desk light off my computer, a night lit in the kitchen, reading lights in the bed, and emergency lights. Plenty bright for my needs.

Unfortunately, you need to unplug it to shut it off, and there is no way to dim it when you don't want full output. This makes it pretty much useless for my intended application.

Ad a dimmer/switch to the end of it, and make the gooseneck 3-4 inches longer and I will buy a dozen.

I bought this by impulse because I like the design, and it turned out to be a great booklight. I can hook it up to my blackberry charger, i-pod charger, or laptop. Lights are arranged linear so it is much better than other booklights that make a circular lighted area.

Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

I used the luna on two long paddling trips, 125 miles on the green river in utah, and 85 miles on the current river in Missouri, and the luna worked great. I used it with the guide 10 charger for lighting up the camp and inside the tent. I could tell this light would not take much abuse so I have been careful with it. I also used it with my laptop and it works well with lighting up the keyboard. It would be great if it were a couple of inches longer for the laptop but that's not what i bought it for. It's a great light and my friends liked it so much, they bought themselves one also. My Luna has been trouble-free during my many trips on the rivers for a couple of years now.

good for when the lights go out for extended periods. Low power drain. can chain up to 8 (according to Goal Zero). I've chained 4 together and the last one is as bright as the first.

Comments about GOAL ZERO Luna LED Light:

I bought this for camping. I have a Coleman lantern that is a great light but is too bright at times. This light has a good mix of providing light for the campsite yet not distract from the campfire ambiance. The battery I used was an Escape 150. The battery provided plenty of power. 3 nights of 5 hours each plus recharging 4 phones and 20 minutes of laptop use before I had to recharge the Escape 150. My only complaint with the light is that it needs an external power source.
