Comments about HIGHGEAR TrailLite Mini Lantern:

This lantern is AWESOME!

Every time I use it I put it on my trekking pole, and say "LUMOS!" and it lights the way! My friends always give me a weird look when we're crossing bridges and I stand in front of them and say "YOU SHALL NOT PASS". But I don't care, I know I'm mature, they just don't know what's cool.

Seriously though this lantern is awesome. It's super bright, lightweight, and durable. It's not quite as light as the Black Diamond one, but it's half the price, so totally worth it.

Perfect emergency light

Comments about HIGHGEAR TrailLite Mini Lantern:

Bought before not-so-much-of-a-hurricane Irene hit Connecticut. We were w/o power for 5 days and these lights were perfect. Bought one/person in house, gave security during dark hours. Now on shelf w batteries at-hand for the next black-out. Give a lot of light, stay cool to touch, cheap and use AA batteries. Part of emergency kit. Will also use for outdoors entertaining for extra light without worry about candles/flames/extension cords.

Comments about HIGHGEAR TrailLite Mini Lantern:

For the price, this is a great alternative to the BD Orbit. Very good frosted light output for use in the tent which is my main use. It is a little heavier then the expensive ones mainly because it uses AA vs. AAA batteries but we are only talking about an extra ounce and you do get a much longer battery life because of the larger batteries.

The only thing I do not like is how the modes are operated by the switch. Click the switch once and the light comes on. Click the switch again and it goes into blinking mode. 30 lumens blinking is pretty annoying inside a tent. You have to get the habbit of double clicking the switch to skip the blinking mode. I can handle that one problem for the price. The only other feature it could really use is a dimmer. 30 lumens is great for being awake in the tent but can be a bright in the middle of night in terms of waking others up. Would love it if instead of blinking on the second click it went to 10 lumens.
