Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Squito Hydration Pack:

I am running my first Spartan Beast and they now require that participants carry a water source. I decided on a hydration pack because it fit the need AND my old (cheap) bladder was leaking. 2L has been perfect for me. I have run 10 miles, biked 25 and just did a 10k trail run. I have been wearing it for every run that I do as well as during my boot camp training for the Beast. This pack has been totally solid and wears the sweat stains quite well :) Giving the pack one star because the guy couldn't get the plastic taste out is a disservice to this product. I've suggested it to everyone who has asked about it.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Squito Hydration Pack:

This nice low profile hydration pack with two small useful pockets - one internal and one external, plus some additional space in the main compartment - enough for larger pump like Topeak Morph, spare tube and maybe something else.

It's cheaper than most competitors, and the price saving comes from bladder. It has non-detachable hose, feels rather lower quality and I'd prefer slightly different valve. There is no clip on hose, so it is hard to adjust length. However, these are minor issues, as it does the job quite well.

So far I'm quite happy with it and definitely would recommend to anyone looking for minimalistic hydration pack, which can also hold some gear when needed.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Squito Hydration Pack:

I am recanting my review above. I had to return the pack due to the bladder. I could not get the "plastic" taste out of the unit. Not being able to disconnect the tube from the bladder was also a problem. I tried to find a competing replacement bladder but none I tried would fit well.

Good design and light. Other than that, not a good choice. I replaced the pack with a Camelbak Lobo. Excellent choice!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Squito Hydration Pack:

Wow! Great concept on an old idea. I replaced a Camelbak Mule NV with the Squido due to weight and bulkiness. Needed something to hug my back while I maintain balance during tricky maneuvers. It also needed to be light weight but have space to store. This does all that and then some. You can store energy gels, beef jerky, PB&J flattened sandwich, handkerchief small tire pump and a ultralight short jacket or vest with the full bladder. That's about it. Just the essentials for a day ride. I like to keep the gear to a minimum so this works for me. I particularly like the outer "S" wrap zip system. Very cleaver. You can access all of your gear and bladder very easily. The water bladder also has a top-closing slider so you can load it with ice and close tightly. I am initially detecting some "plastic" taste (hence the 4 star rating) and hope this dissipates soon. The bite valve is very easy to use but the drinking tube is not removable for cleaning. The sternum strap has a whistle built in for emergencies.
