Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
The front zipper is a little trickly/sticky. The jacket folds up compactly and secures with Velcro in to a small pouch which is great to save on space. The underarm zips add additional functionality to help cool body temperature if needed, or zip back up quickly to keep you warm. I have this jacket in a light color and it quickly absorbed some of the color of my backpack (I think the combination of rain and long wear has also quickly removed some of the waterproofing, especially across the chest area where my backpack snaps in to place). I've only worn the jacket 5 times so far, but I fear it might need to be re-waterproofed soon especially in areas where my backpack rubs. Bummer.
Pros
- Has more fit than others
- Light Weight
- Packs small
- Pit zips operate well
Cons
- Front zipper is cranky
Best Uses

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
This jacket looks so much nicer than the normal boxy shaped jacket. Lots of compliments. It is lightweight so I no longer have to choose between good protection and weight/space in my backpack. My only problem was starting the zipper which did work but needs to be just right before it zips up. The pit zips, on the other hand, work easily.
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
This seems like a solidly built very lightweight coat. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to test it as when it arrived it is far too large. I am quite surprised as I am a very solid medium but even with a puff coat underneath the jacket it is hanging on me. I would definately try it on before purchasing.

Cons
- Zipper a bit testy

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
I use the jacket for all outdoor activities all year round.
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
I bought the Cloudburst and Deluge at the same time online, figuring I would return one. I returned the Deluge for two reasons:
1) It did not cover my butt as well as the Cloudburst when I squatted.
2) Because it has a higher tech taped zipper, the chest did that weird skrinkle thing at awkward moments so that I had more fabric in my face than I wanted. The Deluge probably IS more water proof than the Cloudburst because of the taped zipper. However, I am not an outdoor extremist but rather an environmental educator, so I went with the more comfortable jacket that I figure will still keep me dry on field days with the kiddies.
Overall, it does seem like a great jacket.
Pros
- Adjustable hood
- Kept me dry
- Lightweight
- Roomy enough for layers
Cons
- Sleeves a bit too short
Best Uses
- General outdoor use
- Hiking
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
This was my constant companion during my 23 day Ireland vacation this summer. It was used on all but 5 of the days. Most days, the rain was a constant drizzle and the jacket held up to conditions. Several times I was caught in a full on deluge and the jacket kept me dry. I took a boat to Skellig Michael and was subjected to a lot of sea spray. The jacket worked fine for that also! My only wish is that I had bought the pants as well!
Pros
- Actually Waterproof
- Fits Well
- Lightweight
- Pit zips

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Deluge Rain Jacket - Women's:
I generally don't expect much from lightweight, so-called "waterproof" and "breathable" jackets, but this jacket is awesome. I work in the backcountry almost every day and I'm hard on my gear-- so far this jacket has held up to a season and a half of regular use and it's still going strong. I only wish EMS would make the Deluge pants in women's sizes!
