I spent a lot of time looking for a harness and this one fit me best. However, it doesn't seem like Black Diamond tested the new leg buckle system that they came up with this year and implemented on the majority of their harnesses. The plastic buckle that adjusts the width of the leg loop broke on my very first top rope fall in the gym. It's not a load bearing piece, but if it breaks, then you can no longer adjust the width of the leg loop to your leg. Totally useless. I returned it.

I've been using this harness for top rope and lead climbing (indoors) for a few months now. No problems at all; only the best can be said for this harness. As reliable, comfortable, and secure as the Momentum AL, this SA (Speed Adjust) version requires no manual double-backing, slides right on, and is ready to go in seconds.

We forwarded it to Black Diamond and this was their response: "We definitely take any and all issues with our gear seriously, especially safety equipment like harnesses. The broken buckle, while not a safety issue as you mentioned, is certainly not something we want to see and we are psyched you were able to get this taken care of so easily (a testament to EMS customer service). We have seen maybe a few of these this season with thousands sold, so nothing to worry about, but we will still investigate further into manufacturing and testing processes to completely minimize this rare occurrence in the future. Thanks again for the feedback, and please check this harness out, the advantage of having a “fixed” leg loop for safety while still having adjustability is huge!"
