Comments about OSPREY Kestrel 32 Backpack:
What a great all around pack! I purchased this pack to be my go companion for all day hikes, quick summit bids, back country tours, cragging, etc. So far it has yet to disappoint. On my first ski I was able to take a 2L bladder, about 15lbs of gear (including my helmet), snowshoes, skis, and my poles. Reversible compression straps and gear loops are a huge plus!

Comments about OSPREY Kestrel 32 Backpack:
After using the pack to day hike almost half of the 46 ADK High Peaks, I'm impressed. The Kestrel holds all of my gear and rides comfortably on my back/hips. The waist belt does a great job transferring the load off the shoulders and the back panel can be adjusted to fit the shoulder straps to your torso size. The exterior mesh stretch pockets are great for stashing water bottles, my water filtration system and even my lunch (frozen pizza!). I also appreciate the small top pocket (perfect for my cell phone, sunglasses) and the stow-and-go trekking pole loops. The hydration bladder sleeve perfectly contours a 3L HydraForm reservoir to my back. When full, the bladder does eat up some interior pack space, but as a day hiker the trade-off is perfectly acceptable and not an issue. (I tend to carry and consume a lot of water.) Durability was put to the test on the very narrow herd paths of the Santanoni Range where the sharp wire brush-like branches scraped both me and my pack relentlessly. The Kestrel pack made it through the day much better than I did!
While I haven't used the pack for an overnight yet, it seems big enough to fit all of the essentials.
I would definitely recommend this pack to others, understanding of course that personal fit and preferences will vary. My local EMS did not carry the Kestrel 32 in the store, but I tried out the other packs there and took a chance this one would be "just right". For me and my needs hiking the ADK High Peaks, it is.

Comments about OSPREY Kestrel 32 Backpack:
A great product! Extremely Versatile. This pack does as close to everything as one pack could do. Tons of useful pockets and gear atachments. Easy to acces to your gear due to fact that it is not a top loading pack. Great in hot weather, lets your back breath. Other packs get unbearable in the heat of summer not Opsrey and especial this style with a frame and waffled breathable back panel. Again with the hydration compatability of Osprey makes this is a great warm weather pack. Love the trekking pole attachment, works while your on the go, no need to stop. A great feature for canyoneering and hiking for those who need poles either for their joints or stabilization in river trekking while canyoneering.
