Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

I did a lot of research on commuter backpacks for cycling and was shocked at how few - strictly speaking "commuter marketed" backpacks - have space between you and the pack for breath-ability. After hours of online and in-store searching for the right pack I found the Escapist 30 from Osprey. The features of this pack are perfect for the cycle commuter. This pack can store a lot of gear and while riding it's barely noticeable - which is its best feature! Generally I commute with a 14" laptop, a tablet, a book or two, change of cloths (sometimes shoes as well) and a lunch - This pack handles it all (with some room left over)! The best part (IMO) is my laptop never feels like its being bent in half against my back while riding and the bending of my back does not feel at all restricted while riding - PLUS I can feel air actually circulating between my back and the pack (a MUST in the summer). Even when this pack is full it feels completely stable while riding. Not only does this pack handle gear great while riding it handles well while walking around town as well (the helmet holder is great). While I've not had to use the rainfly yet (due to the drought this summer) I expect it to function well.

Note: if you're looking for a "school" bag this probably isn't the best choice as it lacks school gear associated pockets (i.e.,pen holders etc). But for me, the comfort, breath-ability, lightness and storage space this pack offers makes it an awesome commuter pack on or off the road/trail....

Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

Good backpack, cool built in features like raincover and padded section for sunglasses... but the backpack runs small. The pockets on straps are so small I can only fit lip balm in them, no phone or small gadget. The overall backpack areas are so so intertwined that the space gets lost and I can't fit a lot. I wished I would have gotten the Kelty for space but I do like the features this has.

Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

This is one of the most comfortable packs I've ever had. I loaded it up with gym gear and a bike lock which made it pretty heavy but once I put it on the pack suspension made it feel exceptionally light. lots of compartments for gear, snacks, tools, etc.

lots of adjustability to fit the appropriate sized person. I'm 6'2'' and my GF is 5'3'' and we could make it fit both of us.

you can't go wrong with this pack.

Nice fit, lots of compartments so less digging around for stuff. Versatile, reasonable weight considering pockets, zips etc.
Small pockets on straps pretty much useless

Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

This pack isn't bad, but I have to say there are probably better choices out there. The main issue is comfort. You don't notice it for a few hours but any longer than that and the thin padding starts to show itself. To be fair, this was intended for biking where you need least restrictive straps and light weight as well as freedom of movement, so the wings are small and the straps are narrow. For biking I think this is a good back - if you're looking to commute to work or school on bike. Probably a good hot weather bag because it's so light. I think all Osprey zippers are hard to open and close so that's not an issue just with this bag. I would say this is at best an average bag with the value of lifetime warranty from Osprey. I have the Escapist too that I use for work and that's intended for laptop and work commuting and that one is very comfortable and well padded, but it's also a bit heavier too.

Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

This is certainly the perfect backpack for school, cycling, commuting, and every day use. It super comfortable, well designed, and has so many great features. My only complaints are that the water bottle holder sometimes squeezes a bottle out if the backpack is full, and the shoulder strap pocket could be a tad bigger to fit an iphone with a large case. If you need a comfortable, well sized, high quality backpack, this is the one for you.

Comments about OSPREY Escapist 30 Daypack:

I needed a pack a little bit bigger than my Nathan Endurance for my runs into work. The pack fits the bill. There is enough room for my uniform, lunch, and some small misc items. I am 6'4" and it just adjust to my size. It is close to its limit for proper fit.

The only con I have with this pack is that it needs straps from the back to the shoulder straps that cross over the ribs like my Nathan Endurance pack. There is a little side to side movement on the top of my shoulders when running and the cross straps would remove the side to side movement.

        Service and delivery comments:

Very quick delivery for FPO address. Very pleased with the speed and condition in which the packages arrived.
