Comments about SALOMON Women's Synapse Mid Hiking Shoes:
I am NOT a big boot person. My husband loves boots & has many pairs. I like sandles & take my shoes off to relax. That said: I ordered these after a friend recommended them & then I found a review in Backpacker magazine that touted them... just before a trip to Colorado where I would be doing a good bit of walking around a hilly, muddy, construction site. I also plan to wear these on day hikes. We just didn't get the time for that this trip, unfortunately. They feel like they would work great for that. I wore them around the house a little & decided they would *probably* work. They were VERY comfortable. Wore them on my flight out & most days when I wasn't in my Merrel sandles. The laces take some getting used to, but they worked just fine. I tuck them into the lower portion of my laces so they don't bounce around. A friend is on her second pair & wears them out day hiking. they feel like they would be good for that. I would definitely recommend them. No blisters, no break in period - that's a huge thing for me. I slipped my orthotics in & they kept my feet VERY comfortably protected. I've never bought Salomen before, but definitely would look at their shoes again. I can't really speak to water resistance.

Comments about SALOMON Women's Synapse Mid Hiking Shoes:
The lightest, most comfortable AND best-looking shoe I could find. Looks great with street clothes because they're subtle -- they don't scream HIKING BOOTS!!

Comments about SALOMON Women's Synapse Mid Hiking Shoes:
I've only hiked a few trails so far, bought these for my Utah vacation as I wanted a breathable shoe. They seem good, more like a high top sneaker than a hiking boot. Can feel rocks through the sole, so not sure if that is going to be a problem for longer distance.
I dislike the quick cord laces, will be replacing with normal tie ones shortly, as it is hard the get even tension along foot.
