Look at the picture. See how the lacing system works, with all the laces going through itself, and those two lacing lines running up and down through loops made of the soft supple gray leather the upper is made of? Yeah, well turns out those loops blow out. Big time. Great show otherwise, love the rubber toe cap and everything else. But when those soft little bits of leather wear down, like mine did in 2 weeks, you're out of luck and the shoes are rendered unusable. Go check it out in store. You'll see what I mean. Pass.

These shoes have excellent support, stability, and performance in all the conditions I have found in the White Mountains of NH. One of the leather lace loops popped when tightening after just over a year of use (outside of warranty) I called up La Sportiva and they replaced them. Looking forward to another pair!
