I have worn la sportiva trail runners the last 2 years, but I love brooks running shoes on the road so I thought I would try their trail runners. I have only taken them on 1 run so far, but it was 25-mile trail run across Harriman State Park in NY state. There was still light snow cover but I felt like I always had good traction, even on snow or wet rock. My feet got wet, but that is going to happen in any trail runner when you are running through 6 inches of snow. If you are running through streams or mud or snow, I'm not sure what good GoreTex does on a trail runner, but I guess it doesn't do any harm. The shoes are light and felt comfortable and well-supported during the whole day. Since I have only used them once, I can't comment on durability, but so far I do not see any problems. I am quite happy with my purchase and look forward to running in them through the spring, summer, and fall!
