Just came back from White Mountains, NH three day solo trip. This tent served me well and was light and spacious for one person. FOOTPRINT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
It seems that whoever designed this tent tried to make it different from others just for the sake of making it different. I wonder how the plastic fittings are going to hold up. I would feel a lot better about it if they just used standard fittings that have been proven to work well instead of inventing new ways of connecting poles and clipping in webbing. hopefully I can get some spare parts to carry just in case.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
This tent is great! Used it multiple times now and love it. Super easy set up with color coding and single main pole hub. Fairly spacious on the inside even with two and the vestibules are great for gear storage. Went through the first major rain storm last weekend and stayed dry as a bone. I strongly recomend this tent for any packer

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
I still haven't used this tent on a backpacking trip, but bought it recently for a trip to the Winds next month. However, I set it up at home, and this thing is pretty slick. It's just as light as advertised. While it may not be quite as light as some of the much more expensive super lightweight tents out there, it it light enough. Plus the other lightweight tents I looked at lacked vestibule space and internal storage. This tent has plenty. Having two doors is a great feature that other comparably light tents lack. And I can't believe how easy it is to set up. A great design. The inside is a little cozy, but will fit two people. I'm 6'0" and my wife is 5'8" and we fit just fine. Plenty of headroom.
Another great EMS tent! I can't wait to get it out in the wilderness.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
I was in the market for a lightweight 2 person freestanding tent. After researching for a few months I narrowed it down to 2 of the "big" name tent companies. I couldn't settle on either because each of them had some minor drawbacks (rainfly was too short, no vents in rainfly, etc).
Until I stumbled into EMS and noticed they redesigned the Velocity 2. It covered all the shortcomings that were wrong with the "big" name tents. The velocity 2 is slightly lighter, rainfly is perfect length and although it isnt shown in the picture, the rainfly has a vent on each door.
Get this tent!!!! Even better get it on Sale like I did!!!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
Mannnn I LOVED this tent!! Brought it on all of my climbing trips and loved how spacious it was inside, how easy it was to set up / tear down, and how light weight it is.
However, I have the pre-2012 version and it didn't hold up in Bishop, CA. The winds picked up and ended up bending the main pole. Once this happened the structural integrity was gone and each gust seemed to make it even worse. Attached is a photo of the aftermath. It's essentially unusable now. :(
If it wasn't for this failure this would be my go-to 3-season backpacking tent. Now I don't know if I want to give the 2012-remake another chance and am hunting for a replacement.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports 1025686 EMS Velocity 2 Tent:
Great tent for a respectable price. I have had slight condensation problems, even with the vents open, however this is not a deal breaker. This tent is compact, light, sturdy, and fast and easy to set up. My only wishes is that it were slightly wider and had a slightly taller ceiling...otherwise this tent is great for two person backpacking
