I bought these as part of a homemade rain/shade shelter I'm putting together. I have the Kelty non-adjustable poles on one end and these short little guys on the other, all guyed out with a classic nylon tarp. I've used them on two camping trips with signifiant rain and wind and our shelter has never faltered. We put our 2 month old underneath it during the storms and she stayed totally dry. These would probably be even more amazing as a single pole for a lightweight backpacking shelter. I love them!
