Comments about MSR WhisperLite Stove:
I purchased one of these stoves in store after reading a review, and owned it for more than a decade, using it through extended, rugged, mountainous expeditions. The only reason it broke was because it was so old, point blank. It burns hot and boils water quickly, even with an improvised shield (i.e. foil, or rocks stacked around it). It gives you great flame control and simmers well too. I maintained mine, and only experienced minor flare-ups during priming. It cleans up easily and packs up small. A great stove for the minimalist, cooking for 2-3 people.
