Comments about SALEWA Men's Alpine Trainer Mid GTX Backpacking Boots:
Looked long and at every boot I could get my hands on for a backpacking boot that was comfortable. Most are too narrow and squeeze my foot. I don't have wide feet - normal sneakers fit me fine. However, backpacking boots seem to be cut to a different mold. These Salewas came through for me. Fit is great. Really comfortable. Easy to put on and off. can't wait for the real test: 10 days in Patagonia. Trust me, if they fail, I'll post it right here.

Comments about SALEWA Men's Alpine Trainer Mid GTX Backpacking Boots:
Ok had a pair of Asolo fugitives that lasted way beyond any of my exceptation but caused hotspots with heavy loads and long hikes. Salewa won editors choice so i figered what the hell i'll try them. sizing. my nikes are size 11 and my toe touches the tip. My asolos where 11.5 but i wore thick wool socks. i just switched to smart wool socks so i went with an 11. these boots are about a 1/2 size maybe less, if thats possible, too big but not a problem because the heel wire and the narrow arch bed will not let your feet slip at all even when laced loosely. i hiked at least 30 miles with a 50 lbs pack over less then perfect terrian with no slips, blisters, well nothing not even sweaty feet. i'll be purchasing another pair of salewa boot ( the firetrail model ) very soon for approach shoes. on another note i live in ohio and everything i have purchased from ems has got to me with 3 business days just an fyi
