Comments about SALEWA Women's Alp Trainer Mid GTX Light Hiking Shoes, Slate/Mint:
Great, comfortable hiking shoes. Third pair of Salewa hiking shoes that I own, (have the Firetail and Alp Trainer - which is the low cut version of this same hiking boot), and these do not disappoint. Having a low arch, the climbing shoe lacing style system down to your toe and snug at the ankle provide great support and security for hiking. Minimal break in period meant just wearing them with hiking socks around the house for a couple of days. Out on the trail, they felt great. Would definitely purchase this brand again. Super comfortable.

Comments about SALEWA Women's Alp Trainer Mid GTX Light Hiking Shoes, Slate/Mint:
I had such high hopes for these boots. They are perfectly waterproof, very comfortable, protected my toes and had great ankle support. Unfortunately, the metal hooks that hold the laces at the top of the boots stick out way too much and your right lace or hook easily catches onto the left hook or lace. So after a week of hiking, I almost fell - hard - four times because my shoes would get hooked onto each other as my feet were passing each other. It was scary because my feet were stuck together mid-stride and I would trip while hiking very rocky or weet terrain. At one point, the right hook actually ripped out of my boot when my left foot got caught on it. That hook ripping out was the only thing that saved me from face planting into a large granite boulder. My right lace still gets caught on the left hook, so I'll be returning these boots now that I'm home. It's too bad- I really liked them!

Merchant response: We're happy to exchange these for a different pair of boots, and would urge you to look for boots without "speed laces" as these stick out virtually the same distance on any pair of boots that have them and if our natural stride is that close together you may continue to experience this issue. If there is anything else we can do for you please let us know!
