THULE ARB53 AeroBlade 53 Load Bars
Aerodynamic profile, easy installation and better strength, the Thule Aero Blade Load Bars are the best way to get your gear on your vehicle.Features/Benefits:
- Thule WindDiffuser is a textured surface on the t-slot cover that disturbs the airflow better than a smooth surface, greatly reducing wing noise
- The Thule AeroBlade design also features sharp corners to promote clean “air release”, helping to reduce aerodynamic drag
- Thule BoxBeam - The sophisticated BoxBeam aluminum extrusion creates one of the strongest load bars in the market. Using a vertical load test, the AeroBlade can sustain over 800 lb. of force
- The new SmartSlide is a molded measurement system providing a quick, no-hassle, tape measure-free foot installation
- Thule SmartSlide also covers the underbar slot to improve aerodynamics and noise diffusion
- The new SwingBlade end cap pivots open to allow full access to the t-slot for easy accessory

Comments about THULE AeroBlade 53 Load Bars:
I used the LB50 steel load bars on my VW Passat for about 8 years. Got these ARB53 Aero bars for a new Subaru, mainly because Thule claims they're the most aerodynamic & quiet bars they make.
I think these are actually louder than my old LB50's. Everything is installed correctly, but they definitely make noise. It's not a straight whistle and it's not normal wind noise like the LB50's made... it's somewhere in the middle of the two. It makes those noises even before I installed any carriers onto the bars. (And the carriers don't improve the noise, of course.) The wind noise starts at a pretty low speed, too - it's very audible by about 30 mph. The good news is that it doesn't get a lot worse at higher speed. I can hear it but it's not obnoxious at highway speed with the sunroof closed, especially if the sunroof window shade thingy is closed also. But if I open the sunroof, it's pretty loud indeed.
Many carriers require the use of Xadapt kits for these bars, so be aware of that.
Despite the noise issues, I am pleased with these bars and do prefer them over the standard steel bars. They look nicer on the car, too.
Pros
- Easy Install
- Little To No Wind Noise

Comments about THULE AeroBlade 53 Load Bars:
I was looking for a rack for my wife's new Ford C-Max Hybrid to hold our Thule Atlantis 1800 Cargo Box. It worked perfectly. I drove from Kansas City to Breckenridge CO and back and literally heard no wind noise from them. They're super sturdy. Your first install (along with the foot packs) will take maybe 45 minutes, but after the first time I can now throw them on the car in about 5 minutes. The longest part of the install is just making sure they are properly spaced on top of the car.
Side note: easiest way to figure out the install is to just watch the video's on the Thule website.
Comments about THULE AeroBlade 53 Load Bars:
i bought these bars for my X5 in combination with the Echelon bike racks. they look great but they whistle like crazy. i have spoken to EMS and Thule and no one has a good answer. For spending roughly $700 on a roof rack system i would expect better quality.
Pros
- Good Looking
- Quiet
- Well biult
Cons
- none

got these for my land rover and they look great. Using with echelon bike racks which work well together. After getting installation just right, there is little to no road noise. I would recommend
