Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Thunderhead Jacket:
I was looking for a replacement for my decade-old Marmot Precip. I typically love EMS products--and my pre-Marmot jacket was an EMS product. But I had to return this one. I liked the features of this jacket (breathable, waterproof, zip-pits, taped seams), but the material has a plastic-y feel that just wasn't comfortable and made a (really obvious) swishing noise when walking. I'm continuing my search.
Pros
- Comfortable
- Good colors
- Light
Cons
- Leaks
- Not durable
- Wears Out Way Too Fast

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Thunderhead Jacket:
I really like these jackets, they're light, comfy, good fit, good price, but after burning through 2 of them in less than 4 years I had to give up on them. They just wear out way too fast and easily. The first one the waterproof lining started peeling off in big chunks after about a year and a half. I got another one and it still looked fine after two years but it started leaking really badly at the back of the neck and on one arm...on a cold rainy backpacking trip in the Alaskan backcountry in september. After that I gave up and bought a jacket that cost twice as much and have been much happier. I think this jacket would probably be fine as an emergency layer to carry on day hikes or if you just wear it casually, but it definitely can't stand up to heavy backcountry use.
