Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Mountain Shell Pants:
Just wore these for a weekend of snow shoeing and camping in the Adirondaks. The pants fit well (I'm on the slim side) and are warm. I wore them over a mid-weight baselayer and was warmer than I needed to be going up the mountain, and comfortable coming down. Did a little impromptu sledding on the way down and the pants protected me well. Good pocket placement, zippers, flaps, etc.

My son-in-law researched snow pants and put this on his Christmas list. He has worn them out in the snow since receiving them and loves them.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Mountain Shell Pants:
Although I am a long time EMS customer and will continue to buy EMS products, I was ultimately not impressed with these pants. The materials seemed to be quality, although I never tested them on the mountain. The area that needs improvement on these pants is at the ankles.
The elastic in the 'snow skirt' at the ankles was too loose and didn't fit snug around my boots. There could also be a small hook on the 'snow skirt' to hook onto your shoe lace.
The snap enclosure on the shell of the pants at the ankles only had 1 snap option and the bottom of the shell was too loose when the snap was snapped. Additional snaps could have been added to adjust how tight the shell of the pants fit at the ankles.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Mountain Shell Pants:
This is about the 5th pair of these I've bought over the years. They're the most inexpensive decent ski/snowboard pants made. I generally get about 40-50 days on a pair before I have to sew some new cordura on the bottom, then at least 50 more. Other than the bottom edges getting torn up by my ski edges they still are like new, and I ski pretty much only in the trees.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Mountain Shell Pants:
Use as an outer shell in heavy rain and snow. Heavy duty, good wind and water proof. Only downside is the cut is tight.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Men's Mountain Shell Pants:
I waited to review these pants until I could use them. I have been skiing four times using the pants, they keep me perfectly dry even when sitting on a snowy/icy chair lift and the Primaloft in the seat is warm and comfortable. So far the most I have needed under them was a light weight fleece when it was windy and the temps were in the teens, they kept me toasty warm. I probably wouldn't be able to wear these for winter hiking, snowshoeing or back country skiing because they would be too warm. The inner gator is very large and fits my downhill ski boots just fine but would be loose on my other winter footwear. The only reason I did not give these five stars was because of the fit, I have a 36" waist so I ordered the large on line. They were way too tight so I ended up bringing them to a store and exchanging them for XL, they are a little big but work just fine with a web belt. The legs are baggie but I prefer baggie over tight.

I like the pants and excited that I will be comfortable and warm up in the White Mountains Snow Shoeing and CC Skiing. This is my second pair and they are all they are advertised to be.
