Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
I have owned so many down coats over the years, it's ridiculous - they've all been top quality outdoor brands and most, more expensive than the EMS Metro Jacket. I'm happy to report that this has been the warmest one to date!
Pros:
-Cozy fleece lining in upper torso/neck (this goes a long way in initiating instant warmth)
-Length (this helps tremendously in very cold weather (-20 doesn't feel all that different from 20 when your bum and thighs are covered). I don't use this for active pursuits, but I love it for walking the dog, waiting for the car to warm up and during very cold weather. Long enough, but not so long that it's in the way.
-Two-way zipper - if the length annoys you when you sit, just unzip from the bottom.
-Nice roomy hood.
Cons:
Why can't someone make a sporty women's down jacket that is FULLY lined in fleece? Every year I look, every year I am disappointed. Particularly for those of us who are very small, lined arms would be amazing!!! My arms freeze in every down coat I own (including this one), which requires me to wear extra baselayers and windproof fleece.. which ends up being constricting... even colder, ugh.
-Colors - black and navy blue are classics, true. How about something green or purple or turquoise for those of us that enjoy color (or at least a few pops of color via trim, zipper, etc.)?
-Styling. Decent, but could be a little more feminine...maybe narrower or V-shaped baffling?
Thanks for keeping me warm through this crazy winter, EMS!!

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
I bought this coat for a trip to Alaska. It did keep me warm and protect me from the elements. However, it shed feathers all over everything, clothes, car seats and all over the house.

It is a well made down jk, light weight and very warm, I love it! The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the size. Even I ordered the smallest size, it is still too big for me, so sad that I returned it, hope they would have petite size.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
New England has had some COLD spells this winter and I went looking for a long down jacket that wouldn't break the bank. THIS IS IT! I use this jacket to walk the dog, go out on the ice, visit in winter weather and commute to work. It's great for everything I've used it for so far. It has a great, durable zipper that allows for multiple closing adjustments, a VERY soft inner lining and nice, deep pockets. It also has a cinch cord inside that makes this jacket surprisingly flattering and a little less like a michelin tire man coat. My only issue is with the hood, when it's very cold and windy it's nice to have it up, but the price is peripheral vision so just make sure you turn your head when crossing the street and you'll be fine!
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
I removed the fuzzy part of the hood-I didn't want that. But the hood is warm.
Feathers keep coming out of the coat and sticking to whatever clothes I'm wearing. Since I'm asthmatic, this is a big problem. I like the lengthof the coat but I have cheaper jackets that are warmer in the chest and arm areas.
Pros
- Light Weight
Cons
- Feathers everywhere
Best Uses
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
I love the coat, Very stylish, keeps me warm in very cold weather, the only bad thing is the feathers come out too easily.
Pros
- Draw String Inside Waist
- Inner Sleeve Avoid Drafts
- Long Covers Body
- Removable Fur Collar
Cons
- Feathers Come Out Often
- Not For Sporting Activity
Best Uses
- Work going out
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Metro Long Jacket:
This was a better price point than the comparable Northface jacket and it had the drawstring (internal) at the waist that the NF did not.
