A great multi-purpose jacket. Will be utilized hiking, walking, skiing, or just staying warm. It is true that the darker feathers show through, but the jacket is meant to be used and the color is still very vibrant, so no worries :)

Great all alone when temp is between 25 and 45 degrees. Also can be layered when colder. It's well-made with an extra zipper cover at the neck.

When I just reread the down fill it says nothing about black feathers being used and this was the look of the coat. Black was not showing when I bought the coat and for the first month I wore it. When I went to return it I was told this was the look but they did refund my money.

I'm 5'2, 125 lbs. The Small fits me great. I love the red color BUT....the outter shell is see through and you can see the down feathers through the material. Up close, it looks weird, but from a distance, it almost looks like an intentional pattern. My family members have several other down jackets from other manufacturers and none of them have a transparent outter like this (which isn't noticable from the online picture). So that is disappointing but it kept me REALLY warm during the recent days in the 20's and 30's, so it is servicing its purpose.

I wear this jacket with just a base layer in temps 25+ and stay warm and happy hiking and on long walks in New England weather. It's also great in the car as there is no bulk at all.

I bought this for my wife, who wanted a more fashionable, but still functional, daily jacket. This jacket is very attractive, incredibly lightweight and very warm without the "Michelin Man" effect of a typical down coats. She finds it very warm in typical New England winter temps, but not too warm when the temps are in the 40's. It's been perfect to short winter hikes through the woods, as well as doing errands. She's quite pleased with it, and I think it looks great on her.

I haven't worn this jacket outside yet, but the fit is great and I think it's a great value. I shopped around for other down sweaters before choosing this one, and I like the fit, the packability (it stuffs into an interior pocket) and I think it'll be great to layer when hiking, skiing and traveling.
