Comments about MAMMUT El Cap Climbing Helmet:

I just purchased two of these helmets, one for me and one for my girl. I figure I'm a Large and she a Medium. They adjust well and fit both of us nice and snug. It has hard foam lining like a bike helmet, not just webbing inside. We both like it.

Great. Can't get much better.

Comments about MAMMUT El Cap Climbing Helmet:

Although my experience with climbing helmets is limited to the El Cap and the Black Diamond Half Dome, the Mammut El Cap succeeds in strides.

With a 57 cm head, I went for the large circumference (56-61 cm) and am very pleased, as the helmet fits quite securely with no noticeable pressure points where it contacts. This might be attributable to the front head band being lined with velvet, or some other soft material.

Using it over Labor Day weekend in the Adirondacks, the helmet kept me cool, while tackling cracks and excessive smears. The front lip of the helmet also makes a fantastic sun visor, providing some sun protection, often for the belayer, but not hindering climber mobility. And maybe the description put the idea in my mind, but I feel relatively stylish in it too. I haven't had to use its protective features (knock on wood) but it seems of solid build.

My one qualm with it, although slight and infrequent, is that looking up at a specific angle seems to release the adjustment a little, and loosens the fit. This was never a problem as a climber, just once as a belayer. Adjustment is also best done with two hands, and can be hard with one hand.

Overall, I found my go-to noggin protector. I hardly know it's on!
