Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
This jacket dresses up and dresses down. I wear it over my suit to work, and also with jeans when I go out. I like the length; it goes down almost to my knees. A cord allows for hugging the jacket in at the waist, which makes it more trendy than the website picture suggests.
Pros
- warmest coat ever
Cons
- Feathers Leaking Everywhe

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
This is the warmest coat I've ever owned and I've lived in very cold climates. However between 1 and 2 dozen feathers are coming through the lining every time I wear it. I've had to carry a sticky roller with me at all times. If I can't reach the feathers sticking to my back, I find them on other clothing or my furniture. I'm returning the coat today. The lining of the coat is too thin. In order to responsibly sell this otherwise great coat, you need to change out the fabric you are using for the lining.
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
I just bought this coat, winters in Boston get very cold. I have only one problem with this coat and it is the down feathers, they do seem to shed some on my clothes, but other than that this coat is wonderful, very very warm, fits great and does not look puffy. It has a warm material on both the wrists and neck area, the hood is also very warm.
Pros
- Comfortable
- Flattering
- Warm
Cons
- Sheds A Lot
- Sheds Feathersa Lot

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
I love absolutely everything about this jacket other than the fact that it sheds. A LOT. I have had several down jackets over the years and I have never had one that sheds like this. My sweater and pants are literally covered with feathers when I get to work in the morning. I have resorted to wearing a thin rain shell underneath it to cut down on the amount of feathers I have to remove each time I take it off. I've had it for three months and the shedding hasn't slowed down. If you wear black a lot like I do, this jacket will drive you crazy.
Pros
- Price bought on sale
- Warmth
Cons
- Feathers
Best Uses
- Chicago winter
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
Warm coat that looks ok for working at a bank in Chicago - down does stick to my clothes. I am hoping over time this might stop as my boyfriend has a similar EMS coat without that issue. I have heard this is not uncommon for down coats - regardless of brand.
Pros
- Detachable Fur Part
- Detachable hood
- Good Length--covers Bum
- Light Weight
- Stylish
- very warm
- Warm hood
Cons
- Big in Shoulders
- Narrow in hips
- Sheds

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
I just bought this jacket two days ago and haven't really had a chance to try it out in really cold weather (it's been in the 20s and 30s), but I have to say it has been very toasty and I think it will do quite well when the temperature drops. It's also very cute and keeping in the general EMS style, which I tend to like considerably. There are not a lot of pockets, so it's a simple style and not "busy," which is exactly what I wanted. The fur scruff on the really nice, warm hood is detachable and once it's removed, it makes the jacket super simple. I also like that it isn't really "puffy" for a down jacket and comparatively light-weight, especially when the hood is removed for those days that one prefers a hat.
On the negative side, it is bigger in the shoulders and narrower in the hips, which works okay for my particular build, but might not for someone else. It also sheds a little--which I generally expect from any down jacket, but should be kept in mind. It's also a little on the pricy side and I hope it wears well to warrant that price tag.
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
It's very hard to find a down jacket that will withstand snow or rain, and this is it. It's a nice style, is very warm, the outer fabric is tough, and i like the thigh-length. Mine is S and fits well (the XS, my normal size, fit uncomfortably close, with restricted range of movement, though the sleeves were a better length). The hood fits great, though I removed the fake fur (which fell over my eyes). The sleeves are too long for me by a hem length, so I will alter them to fit (I'm 5'4" with normal length arms). It has a waist cinch inside (and unlike another reviewer who felt it should cinch from inside the pockets, I only adjust this once, so I prefer not to have the cinch pulls getting in my way in the pocket). Though I am glad to have the jacket for its warmth and weatherproofing, there are 2 things I dislike about it: 1) the velcro tabs on the storm flap (prefer snaps or the type of velcro that doesn't snag onto gloves or other clothing), and 2) the hand pockets are at least 3" too high and begin well above waist length, so they are only usable when your arm is bent nearly 90° -- they should be at hip length, a much more natural position.
Pros
- Lightweight

- Warm
- Water Resistant
- Wind Resistant

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
This coat perfect for the long cold, snowy, windy Central New York winter. For the past week the temperature has been around 5-10 degrees, with wind chill bringing temps below 0 some days, and I've stayed warm. I sometimes walk around the city during the to nearby meetings, and this coat is perfect for the extended time outside. Coat reaches my knees, and is lightweight and not bulky for how warm it is.
Pros
- Down In Hood
- Fits Well
- Good Quality
- Warm

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
I love that this coat is down but it doesn't have the typical down ribs on the outside. It looks more stylish that way, I think. It's really warm, the hood makes a hat unnecessary, and the hood really cuts down on wind.
Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Women's Callisto Down Jacket:
The jacket is lightweight and seems pretty water/rain/snow repellent. It does shed feathers more than most coats, but seems to be slowing down. The inside pocket is a bit small, but very useful. the color is nice as it doesn't look like every other down jacket/coat out there. Overall a nice jacket and a fair price on sale.
