It will hold a rod or my net as designed. Installation however was a bit tricky. Considering there was NO gasket to go between boat and holder I had to make my own cut-out template, to help me determine install location and cutout dimension (which is an oval hole). Let alone the fact it would be nice to have a rubber seal. No install instructions and no plug to close the hole. I found a YouTube video for instructions and I don't plan on boating in wild surf or the rain anyway. Bottom line it does work as advertised. I simply beleve EMS should carry a brand of this product that has install instructions and a sealing gasket.

Took me 15 minutes to install and used silicone as a gasket as I installed it. It's holding up well. Didn't use installation template as I didn't need to.
