Comments about SUUNTO Ambit GPS, Black:
This is an excellent watch with multiple uses. The acquisition of satellites are usually less than one minute for the Ambit when satellite almanac data has been previously downloaded to the Ambit from Suunto via movescount software on your computer, where it is synchronized to your geographic location.
I am not a runner and don't use the heart rate monitor electronics and use the Ambit for navigation with a map where I can determine my position on the map using either latitude/longitude or UTM data. I am very satisfied with the Ambit and its ability to determine altitude and barometric pressure with changing weather conditions. You have to remember to change the AB settings to obtain accurate data within reason for your local. The compass is very accurate and occasionally needs to be reset which is very easy and no problem.
The only negative things about the Ambit for me is that presently the time has to be changed by connecting it to your computer where it uses the computer's time setting to reset itself. There is also no sunset or sunrise determination with this watch. That may be a problem for those that hunt or backpack. Otherwise the Ambit is a great watch and I would recommend it to anyone that needs an ABC/GPS watch combination.
