I thought that this vest would be a little thicker, however it is warmer than it looks. I layer it over a thin wool sweater for 50+ degrees, and add a wind-proof fleece jacket for colder weather. For winter, I plan to wear a sweater, this vest, and a fleece vest over it, all under my fleece jacket. The vest is not at all bulky, nor too tight, so it is great for this kind of layering.
I thought I would hate the nylon exterior, but it is soft and pliable, and I forget I have it on. I also wear it inside the house while I wait for the wood stove to get going in the morning. Really very comfortable.
On sale plus gear bucks made it a good purchase. I think I am going to wear this for many years to come.

Until recently, I'd never understood the appeal of vests, and didn't really like the look of them. However, I've started doing tai chi and taking riding lessons this winter and decided that I really wanted extra warmth without any restriction in my shoulders. I settled on this vest, and it's awesome - thanks to the nylon the fabric is smooth and will hopefully last forever, but it still has the insulating qualities of wool. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and have worn it everyday.
My only complaints are the lack of color options and that one of the seams started coming undone in one spot, which was easy to fix but a little annoying in a brand new item.
