Comments about PETZL Tikka XP2 Headlamp:
I bought the Tikka XP2 for myself and the Tikka 2 for my girlfriend who said she didn't really think she needed a headlamp. Well that was until we hiked back from Mt. Marcy and hit camp at night, and had 4 miles to cover in the Adirondacks in darkness. So I put my headlamp on and she put hers. I couldn't see a thing. I could barely see the trail in front of me with the XP2... I couldn't believe it. Clearly the single bulb was not enough. Her headlamp ended up illuminating the trail for both of us. I couldn't believe it!!!! And the XP2 was supposed to be the better of the two models!! All I can say is I was lucky we had both and VERY lucky we had made it to camp and didn't have to hike downhill in the dark, otherwise I probably would be in a cast now. ***** for the Tikka 2, Zero * for the XP2

Comments about PETZL Tikka XP2 Headlamp:
This is my fourth Petzl over a 10 year time period, I love them. They last forever... I mostly use mine on a charter fishing boat and wouldn't fish without. If you don't have one you should get one!

Comments about PETZL Tikka XP2 Headlamp:
Have a PrincetonTec Fuel that I love, but its very basic. LEDs and a headband. Picked up the XP2 so I could get the Core rechargeable. Ends up Petzl is updating the Core so I got mine at a good price, but am unsure about what the support/compatibility is going to be for the rechargeable battery upgrade.
I wore this out kayaking at night and could see fairly well to shore from a good 100/200 yards out. Also wore this while running in the gloomy winter months. Faced the blinking red to the back and put it on over my wool cap and was good to go!
Overall great choices for safety flasher and light level. Looking forward to programming the Core and playing around with the OS a bit.

Comments about PETZL Tikka XP2 Headlamp:
Once you get used to petzl headlamps you become a bit snobbish. It is something about the light quality such, the evenness of bean and the color the light. If you spend a lot of time hiking or climbing at night you learn to appreciate it. As far petzl headlamps go, this is one of the best.
I love the flip up diffuser on this model. Not only does it produce even light, it simplifies the botton operation.
