Comments about SCARPA Instinct VS Climbing Shoes:

I'm a very active indoor/outdoor boulderer. 3-5 times a week. Previous shoes include the Muira VS, muliple pairs of Five Ten Teams and multiple La Sportiva Pythons. I'm well-versed in aggresive downturned shoes. This shoe (once the rubber is broken in) is outstanding for bouldering. BUT, it has a few issues that you need to be aware of before buying. (1) Compared to other companies these shoes run SMALL. I typically climb size 39.5 or 40. I would recommend going up another size. So for me, that would be 41. (2) Compared to my previous shoes, it has the least sensitivity. Similar to the Solutions, you cannot feel the wall. (3) Painful break-in, similar to Five Ten Teams. For that reason I would not recommend this shoe for trad or as an everyday shoe. These are redpoint and bouldering shoes.

Comments about SCARPA Instinct VS Climbing Shoes:

Really comfortable and high performing shoe. Rubber feels quite sticky, especially when heel hooking and toe hooking. I wear a size 9 in the evolv shaman and a 40 in the la sportiva solution. I got a 41 in this shoe and it fits just a touch looser those other shoes. It does fit very nicely and didn't seem to stretch very much. The heel cup isn't very deep and it fits similarly to the shaman as far as size. The toe box doesn't pinch your toes together like the solution and is wider like the shaman. If the shaman is a good shoe for you, this will be too. My only complaint is that when you strap down the velcro really tight it really pulls the arch of your foot up which causes mine to cramp. But that's probably just because i'm flat footed or because I'm not used to it. It doesn't happen very often so it really doesn't effect my opinion of the shoe.
