Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Men's Arete Gloves:
I've only ever used Alti Mitts from OR and they are the standard mitt that just about everyone recommends. I thought I'd try these gloves - - I've used other brands and needed an update on my everyday alpine gloves. These were disappointing - - the shell material is stiff and doesn't feel good to wear for any period. It also seems not to breath - - my hands sweat usually and breathability is a big deal for me. The overall fit was generally poor - - a large OR glove is like an extra large of other brands - - and the XL is too big - - even though my hands measure in to a L. The gloves are OK for shoveling snow around the house but I'd never take them on a climb.

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Men's Arete Gloves:
These gloves are good quality and waterproof. The only not so great thing about the gloves is that the 'warming' layer of the gloves are designed to be used as contact gloves. By this design, the interior gloves are attached to the waterproof shell via velcro. This can be a little of a hassle putting the gloves on while your hands are cold. Also, when taking the gloves off, you have to make sure not to pull the contact gloves out at the same time. Overall, I like this product because of its waterproof and durable qualities.
