Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Traverse Tent:

Used the Traverse with an EMS guide on a winter Presi Traverse earlier this year -- liked it enough to buy it. Just got back from backpacking in Iceland, used it on the Laugavegur and loved it. Got heavy rain and spent nearly 24hrs in it and never had any water come in. And was big enough for my wife and I to not feel too cramped throughout.

Also, recommend picking up the footprint which doesn't come standard.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Traverse Tent:

First let me be clear, I use this beast for EXTREME conditions(ie above treeline), OR, basecamping in snow/very cold. I would NOT use this for backpacking solo, it is just too heavy. I truly love this tent! The gear storage pockets are plentiful inside, its big enough for two who are friendly with each other;) Vestibule size is big enough for boots, crampons, bigger packs, etc, and cooking/melting snow for water. The tent blocks ALL spindrift! It blocks the wind courtesy of the solid interior which has useful vents at foot end, and a two layer door. When pitched properly, it laughs off wind. Never had issues with condensation(I only use this for conditions that require a tent like this, so no summer hot/humid)It is a bit cumbersome to erect,...when compared to a 3 season tent, or a tarp, which I typically use. It packs fine,...again for what it is! It is NOT a 3 season tent, so its larger, and heavier, really heavy. When its -20F and the wind is steady at 50mph, Im pretty content in the Traverse. I would recommend it for someone looking for a 4, FOUR, Quatro, ALL season shelter.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Traverse Tent:

Never used tent. Sets up easy and appears to be well made and sturdy. Unfortunately if you are more than 6 foot tall, the tent may be too short. If you're considering it, and close to 6' tall, I suggest unrolling the tent in the store and doing carpet test (lying next to it) before you purchase. Wish it was a little longer, as it could have been a great lightweight 4 season tent.

        In the Goldilocks zone

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Traverse Tent:

My smaller tent is better for backpacking and my larger one better for camping for a week or more with my wife, but this one in the "Goldilocks zone" is just the right size for solo car camping and camping not too far from a boat. I can easily carry it in large tote bag that also contains air mattress, sleeping bag and pillow (I do like a bit of comfort!). My only gripe: front door of fly ties back in 3 sections (middle & sides) with peg-thru-loop fasteners that can be tricky to release (trying to fish pegs thru loops pulled tight) from the inside if you leave open when going to sleep and need to close quickly if it starts to rain during the night; I ended up doing with headlight and glasses on, a bit groggy from sleep, and got a bit wet. For me, a door in one piece that could be set horizontal with poles and string would be better and could even preclude the need to close if the rain is light and brief.

Comments about Eastern Mountain Sports EMS Traverse Tent:

Great four season exposed conditions tent. We used this on a two week hike in iceland and it perfomed great. Much heavier than my three season shelter but lighter than many similiar four season tents. This tent will perform great in high winds and wet conditions I would feel confident taking it any where.
