Comments about BLACK DIAMOND Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles, 2013:

I upgraded to these poles from a cheap set, so the quality is very obvious. The poles are light, easy to adjust, and stay in place. The grips are very comfortable and the pole doesn't seem to send shock when bounced off of rocks or hit on the ground hard. The only negative is the straps are a bit cumbersome and not the easiest to adjust.

Comments about BLACK DIAMOND Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles, 2013:

Just bought these to replace my old pair of the '12 model. Haven't got these out yet but if they're anything like the previous year's model they should stand up to some big time abuse. I thru-hiked the PCT in '13 with these and only had to replace the tips before thru-hiking the CDT this past summer. So, that means I got about 5500+ miles out of these before the grips gave out and one of the locks started sliding about 5cm per(25-35mi)day. Probably could have got away with just replacing the tips and using them for at least another year but figured Black Diamond deserved a bit more of my business after what these went thru with me.

Comments about BLACK DIAMOND Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles, 2013:

Upgraded to these poles after having another brand fail when snowshoeing up local mountain. The other brand was a twist-n-lock style pole that failed to lock in 10 degree F weather when I was half-way up the mtn. It may not sound like a big deal but it made my hike much more difficult/fatiguing. Being able to dig the poles in and propel yourself forward/upward is a huge help not to mention the increased balance that poles offer. I've had the Black Diamond (clamp lock) poles out in sub-zero degree weather several times and they are dependable. Poles are light and easy to adjust. Snow baskets are wide enough to work properly. Just make sure you check the baskets to make sure they are secure. I'm thrilled with my purchase.
