Comments about KAHTOOLA MICROspikes Traction Device:

After researching many similar products, I decided to drop a bit more $$ on the Micro Spikes. They are perfect for what they're intended for. If you're using them to walk the suburb sidewalks, they probably are a bit overkill. However, if you're doing any hiking, they bridge the gap between rubber soles/Yatrax type and crampons. You find yourself preparing to slip on ice but never feel slip. You can slightly hear the small spikes digging into ice when under foot.
My first trip with them was to climb Mount of the Holy Cross, CO. The trail went from dirt/mud/grass to hard pack ice in the shadows, and off trail in the woods with snow. The only slippery feeling occurs when on flat rock (obviously not what they're designed for). After 10 miles of varying terrain, there wasn't any wear marks on them.
I have size 12 men's boot, and the large was a perfect fit. These combined with snow gators was a perfect setup.
** Note- there are 2 versions of these. The original have only 2 'teeth' under the heel, whereas the newer version has 4 teeth. I would recommend the one with 4, as the extra teeth definitely add some confidence when descending.

Comments about KAHTOOLA MICROspikes Traction Device:

I purchased these on the recommendation of some friends and after checking some of the reviews on different sites. I've been using MicroSpikes for about 3 seasons now and I am totally satisfied. I hike a lot in the winter and I always hang them on my belt with a carabineer. They are light weight, and handy for patches of ice or packed snow. It is simple to slip these on when on the trail and they provide super traction and safety on the ice. They are easy to remove and slip back on my belt when done. They are a perfect solution for winter hiking.
I purchased a pair for my wife to use when walking the dogs and I have recommended MicroSpikes to many friends.

Comments about KAHTOOLA MICROspikes Traction Device:

Primarily used to shovel snow and fetch the mail and newspaper down a steep downhill driveway 0.1 mile long. Other traction devices with coil springs or shallow screw heads are OK in snow but not on ice or wet asphalt on this driveway. The triangular, arrow-shaped spikes on this device provide the best traction I've seen. Elastic mounting is not as convenient as velcro staps but does the job.

I use MICROspikes for hiking with my 2 dogs and compaired to other brands of traction devices they are hands down the best I have every used, well worth the money. Well made and will last a long time. I have had other brands break in the middle of a hike coming down hill and it was not fun. These grip excellent and will not break in the middle of a hike. The stay on your boots too which is nice to not have to keep looking down to see if they are still there..

Comments about KAHTOOLA MICROspikes Traction Device:

These micro spikes are the best thing I've ever put on my feet. I hike 2 miles everyday with my dog in forever wild hilly wooded trails. The trails are always slippery of mud, loose leaves, branches, wood plank bridges, and now snow. These micro spike are really good in all of these conditions. No matter how much tread I have on the boot I'd still slip around. I wear them now every time that the conditions are slippery now. They bite right into the muddy hills and wet leaves, wood and the chains seam to release all of the debrie without build up on your boots. They work equally well in the snow. Absolutely no slipping and they never fall of your boots.
I wear size 10 boot and the large fits perfect.
I've used them for 2 weeks I'll up date if I see any wear.

I used my Microspikes for the first time three weeks ago while climbing in the Adirondack High Peaks! Very easy to put on and remove. They gave me excellent stability on ice and packed snow… I could hear and feel the spikes biting into the ice as I stepped down & I did not slip once! A great product... I have recommended this to all my friends!

These microspikes have been excellent. I used them in the Adirondacks in February on ice and in April during mud season. The spikes handled the mud just as well as the ice. I highly recommened them to anyone who hikes during the winter months.

This is an excellent product that really works. I've been using these since they came out and have gone through three sets. None broke, they just get worn down over years of heavy use.

There are now many competing products and I've talked with people who own each of them and all of us feel that micro spikes are the best. I've owned many sets of full size crampons and I'd use micro spikes for everything but the most technical ice climbing. I don't walk on glaciers anymore but if I did, I'd consider micro spikes for that.
