The toastiest mitts in our ski collection, the Stormbound Mitts are built by sandwiching a layer of 800+ Down Fill between two layers of PrimaLoft One synthetic insulation -- the same combination of insulations used in our furnace-like Stormbound Jacket. By surrounding the weather-vulnerable down with water-resistant PrimaLoft One, we ensure the Stormbound Mitts will both stay warm in wet weather and wick perspiration away from the skin. The waterproof, breathable Pertex Shield outer shell further protects your hands from wet or melting snow, and the comfy, secure rib-knit cuff with hook-and-loop closure seals out the elements.

This product will be shipped directly from Outdoor Research and will leave their warehouse in 2-3 business days. Eligible for UPS ground shipping only.

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Women's Stormbound Mitts:

I have Raynaud's syndrome, so my fingers are very sensitive to the cold weather. These mittens are excellent protection against the elements. I have used them for shoveling snow, snowshoeing, and general daily outdoor activities. I can even drive in them, although they are a bit bulky for that. I love the lanyard system that lets me keep the mittens dangling on my wrist when I need to pull them off on the trail.

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Women's Stormbound Mitts:

If you're looking for superior warmth and good dexterity, then you'll want to own a pair of these mittens. The size advertised online "Ladies Large" was incorrect. Rather they were "Unisex Large," according to the tag. I had no problem returning them at a local EMS. I bought instead "Unisex Medium" in the only color available, gray. (While I did not keep the original pair because of the fit, I did like its purple color.) I have been wearing my new mittens for a couple of weeks now. I've learned to live with the color (it's neutral and doesn't show dirt) and I can say unequivocally that I really love them. The "con" that I couldn't express in the limited space above is minor: the shape of these mittens can make it a little hard to fit them easily into one's jacket pockets. That said, I wouldn't trade them for anything. I have worn them during snowstorms, while walking my dog on blustery nights or just running errands during these cold, winter days. My hands have stayed warm as toast no matter what. These mittens are superb! Worth every penny!

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Women's Stormbound Mitts:

I have to say, these mitts keep my fingers pretty warm! And that's saying something. The interior finger separators seem to help it stay warm inside by taking up extra space. This makes it tricky to ball up cold fingers like I usually do, but actually these mitts keep my fingers warm enough so that hasn't been necessary. I've been using these in 15-30 degree temps for the past few weeks.
I like the down insulation. Palm side isn't as well insulated, but I wear these mostly when walking (don't do much driving or skiing) so it's not a problem.

            material failure

Comments about OUTDOOR RESEARCH Women's Stormbound Mitts:

Great initial impression followed by real disappointment that the 1.5" fingertip area of perforated material failed after just 3 uses in of about 1 hour each XC skiing. Intended as ventilation feature, the choice of material was simply a bad one. I don't recommend these gloves because they won't hold up to normal use, let alone hard use.

I have been using the mittens when shoveling/plowing my driveway and sidewalks. We have had a really cold winter so far but they have kept my hands dry and warm! Even this week in 35 below wind chills my hands were warm when outside. I love them! The inside is soft and there is a separation between the middle finger and the ring finger
